How much ammo do you have in your favorite caliber?

I feel lucky to have been able to strictly maintain a 5K minimum on .223/5.56

I used to maintain the same amount on 9mm @ $140/1K but I'm down below 1K and am gonna have to eat it. 16c/rd vs 24c/rd is a tough pill to swallow but it's better than it was and I shoot alot less rifle than pistol.
I just tried out the AAC ammo I bought last month while visiting my daughter in GA, and it is excellent! Maybe keep an eye out for deals. But rarely do they offer free shipping, so may not be best price.

Not counting rimfire, of which I have a lot, I have 5 .50 cal and 2 or 3 .30 cal ammo cans filled with loose 5.56. I don’t know how much that is, but it’s enough to keep me shooting AR’s for many, many moons.

Stay safe.
I'd say about 6K-7K. That's pretty dang good 👍 especially if you buy some intermittently to keep it topped off, thats what I do but my 9mm hasn't been topped off in a while. I can't stomach $20/50 retail but I'm hoping to get in a cpl bulk buys before the madness ensues.

Like a few others, I don't obsess on huge ammo supplies. 3-400 of pistol (9mm and .45acp), that rotates through every few months, if I keep up on reloading. The half dozen rifles I load for each have 300-400 rounds of brass each, usually not more than a couple 50 rd boxes loaded. Probably same for 22lr. I do have a fair stock of reloading components, tho'.

Same. And before losing everything, I was very well stocked. Why, in .22 alone, I had 65 rounds at the high point!

I panicked during covid and bought another box of 50 when I still had 15 left from the last box. I’m not proud of that bit of hoarding.
I’m just happy that you realize the error in your ways. Everyone reading this thread should share it with their friends, and they can share it with their friends, and so on, and so on. Soon, hoarding will end forever and I can get my 22LR for 2¢ per round again after demand plummets, just like when I was a kid. When ammo prices come down, I fully expect primers to drop to 3.4¢ per primer - for LRM. Oh happy day!

Along with my wall full of .22 ammo I have about 1K of 9 mm. Good think I kept it. When I decided I needed a new centerfire gun during Covid, I bought an EZ9 and there was no ammo on the shelves of any of the stores I went to. I wanted the .380 but no one had any ammo for it. Since I had the 9 mm ammo I went with the EZ9 and I'm happy I did.

Mow many? I don't know, but I do have a sign planned for my garage door...

Firemen!!! don't even THINK about coming in here! Contain its spread and let it burn :)

We have met the enemy and he is us!!!!

The least amount of ammo I have are for small calibers that don't get shot - for many reasons. These include .25 ACP, .32 ACP, .32-20, .380 ACP (which I reload), .38 Special & .357 (which I reload too), and .243. Of these, the .357 has the highest quantity (~1K) followed by the .38 Special (~700) and the .380 (~500).
All other rounds (.22LR, 7.62x39, & 12 gauge) are more than 2K each.

Hum. That reminds me. I need to do an inventory.
Me, too. I try to do an inventory each year before the winter reloading season starts.

Just found that I had a lot of empty ammo cans in my storage area. I'm almost out of .300 BO, and down to only 150 rounds of .38 special/158 gr LSWC. And I have a lot fewer 9mm practice rounds than I thought I had.

Plus, I've got load workups to finish on a 6.5 CM and a .223 bolt action. And a buckshot casting and reloading project to begin.

Fortunately, I've accumulated plenty of lead and lead alloys for boolits, j-words, clean cases, primers, and powder.

Gotta get casting, testing, and loading to fill some of those ammo cans up!

Oh, and in response to the OP's question, I'm probably down to a 12-month supply of 9mm. That's not enough!

I handload for a number of chamberings (as opposed to calibers).
Usually I will load 500 at a time and then re-set to load another chambering.
If I have 500 each of a number of handgun rounds, all is well.
I have components to make more. :)

My favorite cartridge is the .40-63 Marlin Ballard. Looks much like a .405 Win, but about .10" shorter, and not loaded nearly as hot. But I use Hornday .405 brass to reload with, and I've got 5 guns in this cartridge chambering. So I have probably 400 rds. loaded up, and maybe 400-500 pcs. of spare brass cleaned and ready to reload. Another 400 brand new pcs. of .405 Hornady brass just in case. Plenty since all my old guns only shoot one at a time!
