These are my bare shelves.

89 - 12 ga (Abysmally low)
420 - 7.62x39 (notice the pile of clips and the stick magnet for checking to see if they are range-kosher)
182 - 7.62x54R
260 - 5.56 XM193 (I don't even own anything that chambers .223.)
200 - .45ACP
70 - .380ACP
50 - .40S&W (Nope, don't own one yet...)
20 - .30-30
20 - .30-40 Krag
71 - 7.92, (When I found out I was getting an Argie Mauser, I assumed it ate the same Mauser Chow as the other K98 actions.)
61 - 7.65x53 Belgian, (What the Argie Mauser does eat.)
1 - 9mm (left over from babysitting various Glocks and Berettas)
13 - .22LR (Those 550 bricks are leaky sometimes, and when I move I find them in nooks and crannies.)

My sad store of 1477 rounds, 321 of which are for weapons I don't even own.

Time to go to the ammo store.

.45 ACP -- ~600 rounds
.45 Colt -- ~500 rounds
9x19mm -- ~200 rounds
.22 LR -- ~1000 rounds
12 ga -- ~500 rounds
.308 Win / 7.62x51mm -- ~4500 rounds
.45-70 Gov't -- ~150 rounds
7.62x39mm -- ~1200 rounds
7.62x54R -- ~800 rounds
5.56X45mm -- ~1100 rounds
7.5x55 mm Swiss ~100 rounds
.303 British ~400 rounds
.30-06 -- ~1000 rounds

~11900 rounds I guess

Plus reloading components for ?? 1000's of more

Not to play the spoiler here (because this is such a long and successful thread), but sometimes I get a funny feeling when certain questions are asked on THR like, "What guns do you own? - list all of them", "How much ammunition do you have?" and, "Do you have any secret hiding places?" Should make a wise man stop and ponder a bit :scrutiny:

This thread has me thinking that:
1) I need to do some more shooting soon (need to cycle my ammo)
2) I need to buy more ammo
and 3) I need to do some reloading (and buying some more reloading supplies)

Anyway, my current (low) stock of ammo:

.44mag: 20-25 rounds (I've never owned a .44mag, I think it is left from a gun rental when I must not have shot up all the rounds I bought)
.41mag: 0 rounds :(
.357mag: 0 loaded rounds
.38+P: 20 rounds of Speer Gold Dot (125gr)
.38spl: 100 rounds
.45ACP: I'm not sure if I have any on hand right now or not (if so, unlikely more than a box or two)
.40S&W: 50 rounds (180gr JHP WWB)
9mm: a few hundred practice rounds and one 20 round box of JHP
.380: 50 FMJ
.22lr: I'm not sure if I have any right now or not
7.62x39: several hundred
.223/5.56: 100-200 (maybe a little more)
.270: one or two boxes (odd since I've never owned a .270)
30-30: ~80
.45LC: 100 rounds
12ga: 20 rounds (1 box) Winchester low recoil home defense ammo in 00 buck, 20 rounds cheap Wallmart target stuff, a few 5 round boxes of slugs (I'm unsure how many are left).

I have around 300-350 unloaded .357cal bullets and enough powder and brass to load all into either .357mag cases or .38spl cases (or most likely, a combination of the two). I also have about 100 round lead balls in .45cal for blackpowder shooting as well as plenty of Pyrodex for my Remington 1858 New Army replica and Colt 1861 Army replica.

Careful

How do we know you're not a government spy. What next? How man guns do we own? :neener:

I wrote this before I saw that Taurus 66 had addressed essentially the same issue. :D

I wish this board would "remember" me where I checked that little box so I don't have to log in every time. :cuss:

I said, "Should make a wise man stop and ponder a bit" .. oh well now.. being that chaim's from Mary Land (California Socialist Republic to the east), he probably doesn't have squat of what he boasts about. He just has to look tough on here because he's in Mary Land, and he needs friends really bad :D

Probably too much (if there is such a thing...)

100 - .300 WSM 180 grain Gameking
250 - 20 Ga. 2-3/4 #8 shot
100 - 20 Ga. slug
750 - 12 ga 2-3/4 #8 shot
122 - 12 ga slug
050 - .410 #6 shot
050 - .410 slug
7500 - .22LR Federal
1250 - .22LR Winchester
1 Lb Pyrodex "P"
1 Lb Pyrodex "RS"
1 lb Accurate 5744
2 lb Winchester 760

And this doesn't include what I'm reloading for my dad nor the "year's worth" for my HEP classes.

I said, "Should make a wise man stop and ponder a bit"

And I pondered for about 2 seconds and decided I wasn't worried.

So far as I know there are no restrictions in MD or the US to the amount of ammo you can own, and if there were I'm sure I'd be pretty far under since 3 or 4 bricks of .22lr would give you more rounds on hand than I probably have right now. Anyway, ammo is highly variable anyway and the amount I have right now could easily disappear within a week. If I go shooting with just a few of my pistols, even if I buy ammo when I go I could easily burn up all my 9mm, .38spl, .40S&W and .380 in one session (I have enough 9mm it would be a long session if I bought any more ammo though). If I go rifle shooting I can easily shoot all my 30-30, .45LC (it is used in a lever rifle) and either all of my 7.62x39 or all of my .223 (and at least some of whichever I leave) in one fairly normal session of shooting, and I could possibly shoot all the 7.62x39 and .223 in addition to the .45LC and 30-30 in a slightly extended session.

So, I'm not too worried (no tin foil hats for me) :neener:

100x more than I'll ever need for combat, about

1/2 year's worth of practice fodder.

Preacherman, who ya callin' an amateur?

:D

Just over 10K rounds, in 24 different calibers and chamberings:

safeammo2.gif

My goal is at least 20-25K. I must get busy at the reloading bench again. And build that ammo locker closet on Preacherman's plans...

Let's see:

9x19 ~ 1400 rounds
38 spl ~ 250 rounds
.357 mag 100 rounds
7.62x39 ~ 1100 rounds
12 gauge ~ 400 rounds, mostly #8, some 00 buck and low recoil slugs
.22 lr ~ 500 rounds

not a lot actually

Bruce

storage

.223 - 5000 rds Chinese
9mm - 500
45acp - 600
357mag - 300
44mag - 100
12g - 200 slugs & 00buck
most of my handgun rounds are defense rounds (jhp or similar). feel the need to stock up to about 5xs that amount. what can i say, i live in cali & it's just a matter of time 'till short-hair-cutted broads that wear pants will make them illegal :banghead:

12 gauge shotgun = 150 #4 buck, 2-3/4", 100 shells of #1 3" inch magnum
40 S&W = 1200 rounds 160 grain FMJ, 400 rounds 155 gr JHP
SKS = 640 rounds 7.62x39
22 lr = 1000 rds
357 magnum = 150 rds, 158 gr FMJ and hollowpoint

I'm continuing to reload 40 ammo, that stockpile will continue to increase, its what I tend to shoot the most.

As for total rounds excluding 22 rimfire stuff: When I buy or reload it's generally in increments of 1,000 rounds. I keep a minimum of 1,000 rounds per gun on hand. So I have enough to make most here go :what: :D . But the few I can't/don't scare or outstock here?

You really don't want to know. Seriously. I have a lot. But the board members I know that outrun me do so by a country mile. As in easily a UPS delivery van/truck(or 2 or 3 even) FULL, clear to the brim, no air spaces or aisle in the middle.

Not enough, no where near enough.

I think that it was Kipling that wrote, "a person cannot have too much ammunition, too many books or too many read wines"

Ammo is expensive :(

Old thread...

But, yes, the camo toolbox is crammed with full AK mags and drums. The red plastic utility box is full of .45 ACP ammo in individual 50-round boxes. The blue Midway box is actually my range box/cleaning kit.

I still haven't gotten off my duff to build that ammo locker like Preacherman assembled.

Preacherman, do you still have the model/SKU numbers for the shelf and cabinet? I believe you said they were a Home Depot item?

Plenty and enough for anything I might ever want to do. I can't believe some of the responses here unless you have a full auto.

Just for the shotgun, I have on hand 1 1/2 tons of shot, and just received another pallet of factory 2 3/4" 3 Dram 7.5 shot 1 1/8 oz shells.

The primer shelf has more on display than any gun store in the area...

Rifle and pistol ammo loaded will last me for another year, and supplies could last another year. I shoot these almost as much as the shotgun.
