How to price used reloading equipment?

Dillion dies cost more the RCBS so should bring more for you. A friend has been looking for a set or 223 Dillion dies for a couple of mo ths and can not find any anywhere. Every where he looked they are sold out and will be on back order.

Well, it wasn’t that expensive back then. If you listed it for what it cost your late Brother, someone would get a smoking deal!



However, it appreciates so much because a 35 year old one has the exact same warranty coverage as a brand new one, everything, forever, if it’s broke you get a new one for free.

Other stuff doesn’t appreciate the same because they don’t have the same warranty.

Wow! This is an active forum! Thanks for all the tips. I'm located in the center of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Guess the next thing I need to do is an inventory of everything. BTW the black powder has been disposed of as it was old. He had tons of used brass casings but I understand that they can only be reused a couple of times. Is that correct? Thanks again for the responses.

Brass is used till it's broke or lost. For straight wall pistol brass it can be used at least 25 times if loaded correctly. Bottleneck rifle brass can be used multiple times too.

RCBS also offers the same deal on parts; I just got some spare decapping pins for my 35 year old dies.........for free.......in 3 days........during this "pandemic"........

Like he said... I'd hesitate to toss anything out as certain brass is scarce these days. Even if it's not all usable, the right variety could fetch a decent amount of money. Profile says (the OP) you're a 75 year old female? I'd say there's no better time to start a new hobby and you'd be a great addition to the community.

I used to buy and sell reloading equipment all the time. Presses, scales, trimmers, and measures all sell well for good prices. I always start my bids at .01 with fair shipping prices on eBay. Always get more than expected. If it sells for a penny, it wasn’t worth anything to begin with. Sometimes it hard to know exactly what ya got. Got a bunch of Lee progressive press parts now that are just taking up space. So the big items are easy sells. It’s the misc stuff that is hard to quantify. Good luck and sorry for your loss.

Put it on eBay and let people go nuts.
I put some spare presses and dies on ebay a few months ago when I happened to notice reloading equipment was selling out everywhere.
Just old stuff that I had bought as part of estate sales and never used.
I wanted to sell it but I also wanted to wait for the right time to sell and get the most $. The virus scare was it.

Tell that to the guys that need parts for their RCBS piggy back, 4x4, Green machine or other RCBS presses they quit supporting.

If you're anywhere near a shooting range, go see if they have a bulletin board to post a notice on. You'll likely find buyers, and could find one that will buy the entire lot for a good price if you are willing to be flexible and want it all gone as soon as possible. If your brother had a favorite range, go there. At our range, when someone passes other members are often generous when buying equipment and components because they knew the deceased and want to give the surviving family fair prices for the gear. And it may mean something to them to have the press that "old Chuck" used to turn out his ammo.
