Talking strictly legally here, how often do you carry? I am restricted from carrying at work. I can't commute while carrying due to parking restrictions and can't leave a weapon on my bike when I ride. So once home, I only carry when walking in the neighborhood and on the weekends. Of course, I can't eat at most restaurants carrying either. So, here is my first foray into polling.

i am in the military and i can't carry on post, i can have the gun in my car if it is registered with the provost marshal if i am going to or comming back form a pow range on post. so i am pretty much limited to ccw when i am at home, on leave, the weekends and when i am traveling etc.

I am free (and encouraged) to carry at work, concealed or open. While commuting the firearm must be concealed but it isn't necessary when I enter the parking lot.

It's a nice perk.

Weeeeell If I ever needed my weapon while at work or while on company time I will most definitely lose my job.
If ever I needed it while not at work or on company time there is still a good chance the company legal people will advise my termination. It's not right but it is fact.

A personal enumerated individual right vs. property rights at a individually or collectively owned business. If I ever have a way to push this toward a clearer determination I would vote for carry over property.

this is not about property rights, its about the rights of employers. Rather you like it or not, and no matter what laws are passed to limiting liabilty, your gun is still a liabilty to your employer.

If you don't like thier policys, by all means, find employment else were.

Trust me, having employees( and getting them to do what you want/work) is the hardest thing in the world to do.

Honestly, you have a better chance at going up to a random women, asking her to come home with you, then you do of getting a good employee.

I fail at both.

My wife is encouraged to carry at work.

I'm working security right now & I don't have ( or want) the armed certification so I can't legally carry at work but company policy specifically state that nothing in company firearms policy precludes my having a weapon in my POV, I just can't legally use it to defend myself at work.

I carry all day every day at work. It must stay concealed, but it is there.

I work security at a military base, so I can't carry to or from work, but they give me a shiny M9 five minutes after I show up, so I can live with it.

Can't carry to/from work, but they arm you when you get there. Oh ya, that's government rules for sure.

I commute across state lines. I have a permit to carry in my home state. my employer is extremely gun friendly and himself carries.(it's a small business). But the two states are not observing reciprocity with eachother. So I can't legally carry while at work, even though I have the go ahead from work to do so.

I guess your poll needs to be modified or I can't vot in it. There's no category for my situation.

My handbook at our machine shop in florida says no weapons at work. Our new state law lets me have one in my truck.
Have I ever carried in the building Yes.
I just got my new LCP so carry will be easy when I get my leg and pocket holster.
If I follow all the rules I could be dead one day.
If I get caught with a gun at work I may get fired.
I have worked there 19 years maybe they would give me a break if I was ever caught.
We must keep our shirts tucked in at all times.

I'm military, so can't carry to or from work, but they give me an old C-130 when I get there, so I can live with it.

Morning, midday, and evening. No one's ever told me not to carry at work, and there are no issues of legality, so it comes with me every day. I just wish that state law didn't force me to disarm when I stop for fish tacos on the way home. I understand why they do it, though- the chance that I might just decide to get drunk off Coronas at Blue Coast Burrito is too high.

My situation is a little bit different...

I'll get fired if I don't carry at work:D

I'm a security officer at a nuclear power plant. I carry an ar-15, m9, and plenty of ammo. However, I'm not allowed to keep a handgun in my vehicle in the parking lot. I can carry 2 guns into the most sensitive areas of the plant, but can't have my gun in the parking lot.

Everywhere.. I have a pretty rough job that makes it beyond uncomfortable at times, but I have a lot to lose from a robbery so there you have it..

+ the toolbelt I wear keeps it hidden well but doesn't obstruct the draw.

I put it in place in the morning and take it out at night. The only time it is not on me is if I have to go into the courthouse. Then I go from one secured building across a 10 yard patio area and into another secured building. I still feel naked on that walk.
