Howcome The Browning Hi-Power Has Earned Very Little Respect Here At THR~?

......Col. Beckwith presented them with a Rolex GMT watch ......

I knew about the BHP, never heard about the watch. I never had big enough gonads to try out for Delta Force but had the opportunity to support them and the SOG on a few missions. They were very different but very special people, lets just say with a very different attitude and outlook on life than the normal soldier.

classic design

BHP FANS

I am a collector of WW2 german pistols and one of the most sought after
pistol in the war by waffen combat troops was the browning HP. For a lot
of reasons and they had some of the finest firearms of any other nation.

Hawk - how do you like the wider C&S thumb safety compared to the extended/ambi versions?

My HP 40 cal is my favorite 40 cal pistol (next to the STI Edge, of course) now that I've had that horrible out of the box trigger fixed. Ergonomic, accurate, very manageable recoil for an otherwise snappy round.

My 9mm HP is quite accurate with the right load, but fussier than my CZ-85 Combat, which shoots almost as well with any ammo.

The HP is classic and classy.

My FIRST choice!

I need a HiPower "compact" length model (but with a fully supported barrel) in .40sw...but it must keep the original grip ergonomics so you don't lose the "most shootable pistol in the world" status!!!

Had to settle for a KAHR P45 to get close to what I wanted...because they just don't make such a small Browning HP .40.

I believe it has alot of respect here! I also believe it has alot to do with age...lol! I always take my mine to the range. I Have let younger shooters try her out and they always say"wow, that old gun shoots great". It is a different generation.....

I hope this isn't a repeat question. How much more recoil is there in the .40 versus the 9mm? Thanks.
It's noticeable, but not bad. Before FN came out with the .40 it tweaked the design to accomodate the more powerful cartridge. As a result, the .40's slide is thicker than 9mm and has a third locking lug. Add in the fact that the BHP is all steel and you have one of the nicer shooting .40 hanguns out there.

I think I've wanted one ever since Col (retired) John "Hannibal" Smith wielded one so elegantly during his quest for great justice.
The thread has been won. There's nothing else to say. :)

PS Do you feel the same way about the mini-14?

I'm surprised they arent considered a destructive device to be honest with you. I've seen the fore-mentioned gentleman point a mini-14 at a moving car, squeeze the trigger and thus cause the car to flip over instantly on many occasions (luckily no one was injured). :D
