Is there anyone here who has removed the grip-safety and loaded chamber indicator on their XD or HS2000 ?
These are the two things I dont like about them and if they could be functional and reliable without them it seems like it would be great . I once had an XD9 Service model. I just never got around to disecting it .
Anyone here know if this would work ? I am pretty sure the loaded chamber indicator removal would be fine but not sure about the grip safety . Thanks for any information.

Buy a rubber wrap around grip to cover the grip safety and hold it down. The best way to deal with the LCI is to get over it. On the XD it isn't known to cause problems.

Wouldn't be prudent.

The XD safety is unobtrusive, intuitive, and necessary because the striker is always fully cocked.

Why don't you like the grip safety? I replaced the factory unit with one that has a raised area at the lower end. It makes it easier for me to ensure the safety is fully depressed.

I've removed both for cleaning purposes; the grip safety is a bear to get back in place (at least it was for me), and since it's easy to clean w/o removing it, I haven't done that in years.

I remove the LCI every 10 times or so I shoot the gun as it will get gunked up over time; simply drive the small pin holding it in place out of the side of the slide. I usually leave it barely inserted in place without driving it completely out. There's a small spring inside, be careful you don't lose it. Cleaning takes a small pick or a narrowed q-tip.

I have never seen the LCI while shooting; I don't know how anyone could. It's small and unobtrusive, and one's focus should be on the front site.

And as far as the grip safety: I can't imagine why anyone would remove it. Take a good grip and it's automatic, you can't feel it, and it works.

If the GS bothers you that much, choose a different gun. There are alternatives.
