Hundred-Dollar Handgun?

Do you mean new guns?

If so, Yes, I did buy a $100.00 handgun.

Well, it was actually $99.95 before tax.

About 11 years ago I was in a bad spot geographically,,,
And my druggie-redneck neighbor threatened me.

At the time I had very little money to spare,,,
So I purchased a little Phoenix Arms HP-22 pistol.

In reality it wasn't a bad shooting little gun,,,
It ate normal .22 ammo flawlessly.

I could put 5 rounds in a human silhouette in 3 seconds.

It served it's purpose,,,
Until it abruptly quit working.

Now, it's a paperweight.

I got my Russian Nagant revolver in 2013 for $99 plus shipping.
Marked 1927 made in Tula

If we are spreading into long guns...
This year I bought a Winchester 94 30-30 made in 1966 with some finish issues for $100, and he threw in an old Savage 620 pump 12-gauge shotgun.
Last couple years I got a H&R M48 12-ga. single shot for $99, and a H&R 158 Topper for $50.
About eight years ago I gave $150 for a bucket of Mossberg 500 parts shotguns and assembled three complete guns with parts left over.

Bought for 50 bucks last year. Iver Johnson model 50 Sidewinder .22 cal. The original wood grip was broken, so I replaced with a tenite grip. It's a tack driver.

A used Jennings J-22 back in 86' for $35 . Tens of thousands of dollars and hundreds of handguns through the collection since but it remains to only handgun I ever had to pull on someone to defuse an ugly situation. It was $35 well spent and a "Keeper" forever!

Going back a bit but........

In the early 1970s I wanted to buy a plinker handgun. Went to the LGS and picked up an inexpensive High Standard .22 revolver with fixed sights for $99.
One trip to the range and I knew it had been a bad decision. I couldn't shoot it worth a darn.
Went back to the owner of the LGS and asked what we could do. He was very understanding and offered me a NEW IN THE BOX Ruger Target Mk 1 as an even trade. I took it, as it had adjustable sights. WOW did I ever get a deal. Not only does it shoot like a dream, it has continuously appreciated in value.
I have used the heck out of it but it still looks new. Ah that was a great day!

About I'd say 10 years ago I got a CZ-52 for $99. About 8 years ago got a Nagant revolver for $79.

That's about it as far as handguns, though about 7 years ago I got a Savage 340 .30-30 for $99 (though it was missing the magazine) and about 6 years ago I got a Rossi .270 break-action with a spare 20ga barrel for $75. Both those were from pawn shops.

It's not under $100 but I did manage to snag a like new Beretta 92 for $200 (I'd say this was about 4-5 years ago). Private sale - guy needed money at the time.

The OP did extremely well for $100, I think. Lot better than I did, anyway.

I bought a no-name .22 revolver for $90 one time that wasn't worth $9. I learned right then that when it comes to .22 revolvers, there are very few shortcuts price-wise.

In 2003 and 2004 I bought a Mosin Natant M44 and Turkish Mauser from Big 5 Sporting Goods for $49 each respectively. It was their black Friday specials each year.

Not for $100 but I did pick up a S&W 66-2 with the target hammer and trigger from a buddy for $250 in 2013.

about 3 or 4 years ago I was the only bidder on Gunbroker for a CZ-70 in .32acp

it came with a Plano single handgun hardcase and a box of Gold Dot hollowpoints

for $57

The gun shop that listed it didn't place a reserve, and boy were they unhappy about me being the only bidder:D

Good job! I paid $200 for my CZ70 and felt like I got a good deal! It was NIB, but that probably doesn't matter. I get the impression they will shoot many thousands of rounds without difficulty.

Send it in, Phoenix will probably send a new one.

My neighbor came to the fence while I was doing some yard work. She told me to come inside as she had a gun that she wanted to get out of her house. It was a 1909 Colt .45 Army with a holster. I tried to pay her for it, but she would not hear of it as I cut her grass all the time for free.

I also got this M-44 for $64.50 from J&G back in 2004.

Smith&Wesson model 10 police sell off in 1966 Went to the cities power plant where they had about 8 or 9 revolvers left. Colt and Smith in .38 Spl. for $15 cash and walk.

Mine cost $120. They used to be a really good bargain but those days are gone. Same price range I'm getting a Czech 8mm.

Teehee.
I just saw an episode of "The Fugitive" from the '60's. A group of kids around 10 years old (including a young Kurt Russell) bought a mail-order rifle in 303 British from a company called "Teton Firearms." They found out who Richard Kimble was & they were going to capture him. The price was $15.00.

Betcha can't beat that. :neener:

I used to get Chinese 7.62 Tokarevs for $78 and Baikal Makarovs for $89.
God, I miss the 1990s (not the Clintons, just the prices and my youth)

While far from a "great" gun several years ago I got a very clean New England Firearms NEF R-92 nine shot 22 revolver. I got the little revolver and a Marlin Gelnfield 60 plus a few ancient top breaks all for $100. A co-worker had a family member pass away and the guns were found in the house. They simply wanted them gone. They offered me the stuff for a hundred bucks and I said sure. The little 22 is actually a fun little revolver and actually well made.

Here is my $100 shooter I bought it back around '95 or '96. I got it used from a pawn shop. I'm honestly not sure I gave $95 or $ 100 for it and another $5 for an old clip on owb leather holster. At the time I didn't have a handgun & wanted something for personal defense. It is a Dan Wesson model 15-2. Sadly I only have the 4" barrel. I kind of wish I had a 6" barrel for it.

I got a Yugo SKS for $99 in 2002 , that was the going price back then. Maybe two or three years earlier they were selling for $69 from what I heard. I think they sell for $300 these days?

A couple of months before "Banic" I guess in August of 2012. I saw a used High Point 9 mm in the pawn store for $99 and came with the box too. I almost bought it. I kick myself now for passing on that deal especially after seeing how reliable my High Point .45 ACP pistol turned out to be (which cost $159 new) turned out to be a good shooter.

The Raven .25, I think I spent $75 on that one in the early 2000's, I think it was from a Pawn store. It only jammed once or twice.

I am embarrassed to be a part of the $100 dollar handgun club...........well sort of. This piece of garbage did not even cost that much.

Heck, K-Mart had to mark it down or 'Blue Light Special' it just to get it sold. Yeah, no fool would pay the original price and they had to discount it to even get a sucker to buy it.

No one will believe it's a good shooter and it hasn't blown apart by now. Can't understand how the cheap 'paint' is not all gone and not totally rusted to dust. Guess a lot of it is due to me being afraid to shoot it much, you know how these Saturday Night Specials are prone to hurting the shooter as much as the shootee. Maybe one day I will get brave and put a full box through it at one time, hoping for the best.

Just hope I can break even someday if I decide it's worth the effort, and face the shame admitting I own it, to sell.

Probably should just use it as a trotline weight and be done with it, that way no one sees me with it.........................IDK.

I remember working a summer for my dad roofing and in the fall going to Gibson's and getting a "New Frontier" for what my recalls $65.00. Still have it as well as a Bearcat he bought for my sister a few years later for a similar cost.
