I am tired of weird colored guns.

Puke OD green, flat dark manure-colored earth, and bilious bronze.

Hate em.

I finally find the model I want, only to find it is in some hideous color.

Handguns need to be matte black, high gloss blue, matte stainless, and rarely, but occasionally acceptable, shiny nickel.

I guess they are popular with the tactical crowd. There are a lot of them out there.

That's all I got to say about that.

I’m with you in that my preference is usually black.
Unfortunately S&W only offers the M2.0 5” in FDE. I’m not particularly fond of the color but I really wanted the extra length and didn’t want to wait any longer.

That said, I do like some of the cool paint jobs and things done to ARs.

Funny, my feelings are exactly opposite. Id be happy to see more colors offered.

Besides if you dont like the color a particular gun comes in, do what those of us who dont like black usually have to do, and paint it lol.

I also really appreciate high gloss bluing, and pretty wood. But on guns that are plastic and metal, i want something besides matte black.

I've no problem with OD or FDE (or similar shades thereof) if one operates in an environment where those respective colors predominate. For most uses though, I prefer black.

But OP, nobody is forcing you to buy them but I do certainly understand your point about finding a model that only is in stock in a weird color, that's happened to me too.

There is a practical issue to this. If you are out in the weather, and happen to be where it gets very, very hot, black absorbs a lot of solar heat. Lighter colors are more reflective. I suppose the ultimate paint job for this would that liquid silver look I have seen on a few cars and trucks - with a matt strip along the top for sighting of course.
