I think THR has been a bad influence with all this "Molon Labe" stuff, you'll have me smoking next! -kidding ;) I thought about this for about 7 months and it means more to me than just RKBA, it pays homage to the Spartan warriors at Thermoplyae, upholds the ideal of fighting for freedom no matter the cost and the olive branches signify a preference for peace and to fight by peaceful means when able. Oh, and the whole RKBA thing too.;)

Whuddya think? Too late to get rid of it! I guess I could cover it with a panther.:uhoh: I hope the thing about tattoos being addictive isn't true...I only want one.:scrutiny:

I think thats the best Molon Labe tattoo yet.

Mine is simply the letters on my leg.....pretty simple, at the time I couldnt come up with anything more fitting. I do really like the sword and shield....

Nicely done.

Thanks, I've seen yours, simple but very well executed.

I told him only in general terms what I wanted and attached some images for his reference. I couldn't picture a good composition in my head, I left it up to him. That's what custom artists are for! All I knew was I wanted MOLON LABE, a sword and some olive branches on my shoulder.

He did a very, very nice job - hes a real artist.

This was my last - turned out better than I though it would....but my guy isnt quite up to par with yours.

Nice, good background shading and the wood color is very good. The "si vis pacem, para bellum" is another subtle layer of meaning I was going for in mine. Debated working the wording in, but it seemed like too much. Gotta have something for the other arm. My wife would probably freak at that...she was surprisingly supportive of this one though.

Stram,
With very few exceptions, nobody has just one tattoo that isn't planning another one.
I have one tattoo. It starts just above the knee and ends at the top of my head:neener:

Distinguished Riflemans Badge.

I saw a COUPLE of Distinguished Rifleman's Badge tatts at Camp Perry. Didn't notice if they had their badge number included.

Pretty impressive tatts.

wow... while I have to admit as a general rule I dislike the look of tattoos on people, I have to admit Strambo.. that's a really pretty design - it looks good. :)

I'll try to be one of the exceptions then. This came about as a result of what I call my "third life crisis" where I stopped being such a goody goody conservative and started being much more "libertarian" in my thinking. It's a symbol of that change. The "old" me would never have done it just because of other people's and/or organizations informal rules and expectations.

I can see where it would be hard to stop at one though. Permanently marking your body is a line that once crossed, doesn't have so much sway anymore.

Thanks Kaylee. I was expecting a lot of resistance from my wife...she "hates tattoos". When I floated the idea, I had by no means made up my mind at all (I surprised myself with the idea) and her opinion would have held a lot of sway. She was a lot more supportive than I thought, took me off guard. In the end, I think she would have been dissapointed if I didn't go through with it. She's still "getting used to it" though...but I'm back in A-stan for another 7 months (got it on leave) so there's time.:D

I don't have any regrets...7 months of thinking about it, researching about tattoos in general and finding a good shop and artist with recommendations from different sources went a long way towards a good experience.

I hope the thing about tattoos being addictive isn't true...I only want one.

There are a select few that don't get more than one, or so I've heard. I've yet to meet one. I myself am on my 5th tattoo and it's taking forever to finish (full back piece). I'm already trying to come up with ideas for the 6th :)
I've been trying to think of something gun/RKBA related, but have yet to figure anything out. If only I didn't have a thing about not having any words or letters or anything like that tattooed on me, it might be easier.

Nice piece, very well done. Kudos to the artist as well.

Very nice strambo... As an ink-addict myself, I'm seriously considering going with the MOLON LABE theme for my 4th tat.

Just gotta figure out where to put it. :D

Damn...very nice.

And yes...theyre addictive. Unfortunately my collection of ink is growing faster than my budget nowadays, but that's how it goes...

I've been thinking about something like this for myself. Maybe I'll get it on my back, so 6 months later and I think it was a stupid idea, I don't have to look at the thing everyday in the mirror.

Wow...

Definitely the most beautiful Molon Labe tatoo I have ever seen. I was thinking about getting one for my next (and last) tattoo.

I really, really like that design and may do some kind of play off of it.

Gun tatts

I was kind of thinking about getting the wind chart for 80 grain sierras at 600 yards tattooed on the back of my shooting hand.

I'm not sure that "come and take it" is what I would want tattooed on my butt.
:uhoh: :D Well, you could be selective in who you show it to. I got mine on my shoulder though...:scrutiny:

Fighting the urge.

I have only one tattoo, but I have to fight the urge to get another every so often. Mine is a memoriam piece, inked ten years ago. But, like strambo said, once you get one the line has been crossed so there's no barrier other than personal choice. The tattoo in question has me thinking, though. Looks very nice.
