Somebody talk me out of it. I just can't stop thinking about it, I think I want an M&P 2.0 with miniature holographic sight. Wife tells me I don't need it, "You've got enough guns!!" she says. Wouldn't it be neat to have a 9mm semi-auto with a Trigicacon tritium sight? Or the red dot , or the amber dot? Heck the optics will cost more than the gun! Maybe put one on my Colt Gold Cup. (Nope, that would just be wrong) I could put one on my Glock model 22, (I keep it on the nightstand next to the bed). Heck, just thinking out loud.

The safe play is to heed momma's advice lest papa find his new toy alongside him in the doghouse. Me, I cut my own checks, but I remember when it wasn't so and the juice was not worth the squeeze on such issues.

Imagine instead that same money paying for 1/3 of your Caribbean getaway then broach the subject some time after. Now call that travel agent and put her off her guard! Postpone that pistol till tax season.

Keep momma happy and you will be happy. But if you like misery go ahead and buy it. Fortunately for me I am not in the same boat you are in. The wife and I have a budget we stick by. Part of the budget is ''FUN MONEY'' . We both get and equal monthly allowance to do with it as we please and we do not get upset about our purchases. For me if it is a high dollar item I just save the required amount for a few months and buy it. I just spent $3K on a 1874 Sharps and she was right there with me being bored at the gun store. This setup works for both of us. The great part is that we are both retired and when we become eligible for Social security I will receive an allowance increase.

Buy it and act like its old.

Is that why some people make their guns look artificially battle worn? :D

I have pulled off the "I've owned that for years" ploy, but I don't think I could pull it off on a freshly molded plastic framed auto loader with a new techno gadget looking optic on the slide. For instance, I bought a retro-ish analog tuner AM/FM radio over the summer for very little money, but my wife called it out instantly due to how fresh the plastic looked. No scratches or dust on it yet. :D

"I know i dont need it hunny, but i really want it"

That works once in a while....in fact now i just show my wife a picture of what i want once a year or so, ive found thats about the limit.
I also seem to catch less flack in the long run with that line than i do when i make up a need.....

I think you fellas are right. Well, at least, I have planted the bug. Next time I mention it, it will sound like old news. Wear 'em down, a little at the time. However, I do wish to keep the wonderful relationship we have in place.

Sometimes we have all the resources we really need waiting to be rediscovered...or...a sad puppy dog look after range day with an unusually bad target and a story about the 'ol eyes not being able to focus like they used to. Never know with the holidays around the corner. Maybe the missus finds a slightly crumpled flyer for an M&P Core at the top of the trash bin...

Best hints are the subtle ones. Better prepare to respond in kind on the appointed day though.

I think married men should be able to spend as much on firearms as their wives spend on shoes. I believe that to be equitable.

My wife tolerates my collection. It is getting to the point that I need to reclaim some safe room and she still loves me. I tell her I am done collecting and she just says I have too many already.

Like the saying goes, "If Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy." And if you have a good relationship, she wants you to be happy too. Because the reverse is true, "If Poppa ain't happy.....you get the picture. We only had one argument about guns and have never had another one. I cheer and support her decisions to buy lots of clothes and spend money on expensive vacations and spend money on grandkids. The argument was that such support would continue provided I got similar support for my hobby. We really do benefit when our partner is happy.

Like shoes, guns are much easier to buy than to sell.
I look at my Inventory of guns and sometimes scratch my head as to why I bought this or that rifle.
Good luck deciding whether you should
Purchase it or not.

grayling I think you are right. As a matter of fact I am cooling down on the idea of another plastic gun. Like I said, got plenty already. I already got CT's on my CCW LC9 and bedside Glock model 22. Think I will just save some $$, wait a while and get another Colt for maybe..............my birthday!
