I have been working with my Tikka T3 Hunter in 6.5x55 developing a silhouette load for Chickens, Javalina and Turkeys. I think this will do the trick.
It's a little hard to read, but it is 39.5 grains Imr4064 and 108 grain Lapua Scenar. Fired at 100 yards from a clean, cold barrel.
ETA: 10 round group.

Color those two low ones in black... and you have a star. That's my contribution for the day. Nice shooting Poper!

kinda crazy what a over 100 yr old cartridge will do in a good rifle.

im guessing you wont be trading it off for 6.5 creedmore anytime soon!
Nope. Me thinks it's a keeper! :D
Been working on a 130 grain Berger load for the Rams. A bit of tweaking the seating depth and I think we will be off to the races and my Tikka in .270 Win. will be taking the backup role. It shoots great, but after a 60 round match, the 140 grain Bergers are feeding my flinching habit!

There may be a reason the 6.5x55 is popular in Europe and Finland in particular....?

Believe it or not, those were the first two rounds out of the cold, clean barrel. Not sure that's the difference. It could be I settled in after the first two rounds of the day.

At first I was impressed. Then I noticed those 2 crazy fliers. You better start over. I'm sure someone will sell you a Creedmoor that shoots better than that. Probably a dime at 1k yds.

Seriously though. Very good. Gives me something to aspire to.

Nice shooting. I'm not surprised by the first two. I had a nice .308 that shot consistently 0.5 MOA that put its first cold bore shot almost one inch low and slightly left ... every time. I just learned to make allowance for it. Yours is tighter than that.

Excellent. Tikkas are good. I haven't been able to match your group but my T3 is a solid 3/4 inch MOA including a slight cold bore flyer. mine likes to be clean with a couple fouling shots. Good shooting.

I think it a bit ironic that a Scandinavian cartridge in a Scandinavian rifle shot a 10-shot group in January that closely resembles a snowflake...
Funny!!
I hadn't thought of it that way. Not surprising as I am in the Phoenix, AZ metro area and shot this at Ben Avery.
