So during the revolution or purge or whatever you want to call it. Your local resistance/militia supply has cases and cases of 9mm and 45 acp but no 40 or 38 Special or anything else. At least you can stay in the fight with a gun that has ammo available.

Same thinking with rifle ammo. 223 or 308. My 25-06, 7mm RM and 45-70 are OBE.

I've tried to like 9mm, it just never filled a niche for me. I prefer a carry gun to be in a chambering that is typically subsonic.
Everyone young and old should at least own a 45 acp because 'merica. Although I support 45s in all their configurations including 45 gap:what:(no, I don't own one and never shot one and don't know anyone who has). The metric boys can keep 9mm, it does nothing for me.

My last two semi-auto handgun purchases were:
- Sig P-938 9mm (my 1st/one/only 9mm)
- SA 1911-A1 .45 ACP (my 1st/one/only 1911)

These were purchased for their platforms, not cartridge chamberings.

Finally something that makes sense to me. I do the same thing.

1911's
.38 Super and .45 ACP.

S&W Shield .45 ACP (Fits my hand better than the 9mm/.40).

M&P M2.0 Compact .40 S&W (It handles it so well I see no reason for 9x19mm).

P365 9x19mm (I wouldn't buy a .40 even if they offered it).

To me caliber wars are essentially "the enemy is any caliber that's not my preference must be destroyed". If a platform and caliber works well for you the fact that it's not a Glock 19 is immaterial.

PS If you own a .22 LR, .380 ACP, 9x19mm, .38/.357 Mag, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, 20 ga, 12 ga and .223/5.56 you will be likely to have a firearm for 90% + of the ammo you will encounter.

I have been a 1911 aficionado for decades. My wife told me to get something more modern. I got a Browning Hi Power. :)
I've been there, but I've moved into the slightly more modern age, probably as modern as I'll ever get based upon what I'm seeing from the manufacturers these days. I'm up to 1975 with several CZ 75-based guns. :)

Are you thinking you can go to Walmart any time you want. My local Walmart discontinued sales of any ammo that works in a semi-auto.

Why would I go to Walmart (pre-clearance sale) when I could buy 9mm and .40 for $7.99 a box at the LGS.
