I impulse bought an HK SL6!!!

Thought I'd show off my newest family member

For those unfamiliar with these it's an HK SL-6. Lots of good info about it here...

It's in pretty much mint condition and the trigger is phenomenal. The quick detach scope mount makes it very easy to transition to iron sights. I do like that the gun has the look of the Gewehr 43, even though internally it's pretty much an HK-93. It's .223 so it should make for a nice range toy and I've heard they are tack drivers so I can't wait to try it out! It didn't come cheap but considering the number of ten round mags it came with, which I've seen sell for as much as $150 a piece on gunbroker I think I did pretty well. Also the scope mount alone is worth quite a lot. Plus I bought it privately so at least I didn't have to pay tax on it.

It came with one four round mag and five ten round mags. The only this gun is missing is a decent scope. I honestly feel a rifle like this deserves a decent scope. I have no idea what scope I should get so I'm open to suggestions.

That safety is strange though I recall wanting an HK semi-auto 30-06 (The 940?) that had a more traditional sporting rifle stock.

I was thinking something like a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 MC perhaps. $500 is about my max budget right now on a scope.

I think Zeiss would be fine. and 3-9x is good enough for .223. Hope you have fun with your new toy.

I believe he said $1600 OTD when he first posted, pretty cool delayed blow back rifle. I paid $1600 for my M1A so I cannot say that the OP is crazy, that HK is definitely way more rare.

They are great rifles. My brother has both of the .223 & .308 models. He uses the Hensoldt 4x scopes with them. Here's a website with info on the scopes: http://www.mg-42.net/G3_hensoldt.htm

Yup it was $1600 OTD. Sorry when I went back and reworded my original description I just neglected to mention that. It was more than I wanted to spend right now but I just couldn't pass it up.

I ended up ordering the Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 MC for it. I figure you can't really go wrong with a Zeiss.

For the most part, no. The 4 rounders pop up every now and then and for around $60+

The ten rounders are very hard to find and when you do find them they are usually sell for around $150. Looking back through gunbroker.com the only SL6 10 round mag to sell in the last 90 days sold for $155 and had 13 bids on it. So I'm very glad I got as many 10 rounders as I did with this gun.

The HK05 scope mount that came with this gun usually sell for $500 or more.
