I really want a glock 19 but...

$200 kits a great folks, but lets be realistic... baseline good gear far exceeds that.

I'm probably at around the $1000 mark excluding components, and I've yet to buy a real bench, or a progressive press, or a powder measure/thrower of any sort, or...

I started reloading with the RCBS Rockchucker and ended up upgrading to the Piggyback Progressive after I learned how to reload correctly on the single stage Rockchucker. I would highly recommend you get the RCBS Rockchucker kit. I went with Lee dies, they are cheap and load very accurate ammo. You can load a box of 38, 357 or 9mm practice rounds very cheaply and if you do it right the ammo will be a lot more accurate than off the shelf ammo because you can tune the load to your individual firearm.

I'd also recommend you begin with a single stage press (RCBS Rockchucker or similar) and by loading the straight walled revolver cartridges before reloading the auto cartridges (9mm). You will learn a lot and the revolver cartridges are easier to reload.

As to the Glock, I think that after you do the detailed research you will agree that the Glock 19 is very hard to beat. Like any firearm, you need range time and training to really get comfortable with it. So, get the Glock you like and get some training and practice. Reloading will help a lot.

Horsefeathers. I started reloading about thiry years ago with a Lee-Loader kit that cost $9.95 or maybe it was $19.95 and fit in a box about the size of a couple packs of smokes. It did just fine. As time went on I added a few simple little hand tools that made things easier. But that same Lee Loader today, costs less than $40.00 and still does a good job. I put up I don't know how many thousands of rounds of 38 special ammo with that thing, but it was a bunch. Every one of them was perfectly safe to shoot. I later added kits for 44 mag, and 45 auto also.

Reloading can be as expensive as you want it to be.
