So I thought I might try to (re) pose this question......

I have an EMP, that rides in a Milt Sparks VM2. It is a very comfy IWB ride. However, I just bought a Springfield PX9109L (1911 A1 Loaded) 5" bbl. Looking around for a holster that will take less than a year to get, I stumbled across THIS OUTFIT, named Crossbreed. Has anyone ever owned one of these IWB for a large auto?

Their data states that they are the most comfy. (Like they're going to say "the least comfy" on their site. I would kinda like to try it, but to toss $BENJAMIN into the fire is a bit much without a testimonial. Any one ever had one of these (?) OR, can you recommend a REALLY COMFY LH IWB holster that doesn't have a 6,7,8 month turnaround?

Thanks.

I carried a full size RIA 1911 for a few months in my CBST, only problem I ever had was the barrel was too long and would "thump" any seat I sat down in. That's when I decided to get a shorter barrel 1911, and I carry it daily in the same exact CBST. I would say the CBST is one of the most highly regarded and most comfortable IWB holsters made today. Heck, if you don't like it, just send it back during the "try out" period.

The top two links are my reviews, I continue to pack in SuperTucks for two guns, for long periods under minimal cover garments. CrossBreed has a new magazine carrier design, in between the one I posted about above and the current design I went elsewhere for magazine carrier needs, the new one looks like a winner.
Go to the "advanced search" put your search term(s) into the box and select "titles only" for best results.

The general consensus seems to be that the hybrid design is a winner if you can tolerate IWB, are willing to go with something other than grandpa's all-leather design, and don't intend to be gun-on/gun-off over and over all day. And if you don't like it, CB has a pretty damn good guarantee.

You need a good belt, too. I'm assuming you don't have a dedicated gunbelt if you're just starting to shop holsters, CB makes a pretty good one, BeltMan makes a better one, and there are numerous others on the market as well (I have CB and BeltMan belts, the CB got demoted to a work-belt when I ordered a second BM one)

If you have and like the Sparks VMII, I have two suggestions.
One, Milt Sparks Watch Six. Since I got mine, the VMII sits in the safe. Turnaround time "may" still be an issue.
Two, UBG Striker One. http://www.ubgholsters.com/iwb.htm
Very similar design, great quality, fair pricing, good turnaround time, great people to deal with.
Speaking of which, I need to order another... :)

I emailed back and forth with Nate this eve, and settled on his recommendation, his Canute. I'll let you know after it arrives. I might also pop for a crossbreed, if the UBG doesn't quite feel good. A lot of pos feedbk for both.

AND, bigfatdave... because I'm trying to spot some new (to me) holsters, doesn't connect to your guess. I have 6 handguns right now, I have Haugen GunLeather, Mitch Rosen, Milt Sparks, HighNoon, Horseshoe (Andy Aratoonian) Alessi, and about 4-5 other holsters for several different 'occasions' for my variety of handguns. Someday, some LH guy is gonna score big when I get on GunBroker . com and list all of these $$$$ holsters, to make space in my cabinet drawer. In fact, the last 4-5 items I sold were extra holsters, a few on GB, and one or two on eBaY.

Just wanting to try something a little different. But thanx for trying to help.

I know you were just being friendly, but I am pretty familiar with a lot of custom leather rigs. My problem is not being familiar with 'less custom, lower (more reasonable?) priced, and low turnaround time rigs. I just want to try something other than a big name, slow turnaround, higher priced holster.

AND, carrying a full size .45 1911 will take something special to feel comfy, after being used to an EMP 9mm in a VM2.

I carry a Commander-length Stainless Steel 1911 in a Crossbreed. Works fine and is very comfortable. I also have a MS VMII for my SIG P220 Carry. Works well. Holsters are very much like guns; you have to find one that fits you well.

Good Luck,

RMD
