pics are for a gun owned by a friend who inherited it from his now deceased brother. The gun was in rough shape (dirty) and I said I’d try cleaning it and Looking for any info I can get on this gun. I am NOT a revolver guy...but I’d like to help him out. Anyone have a good video for detail strip and clean? I can take an AR or a Glock down to individual springs and bits, but have no idea how far I should go this gun before I may get over my head. Took off the grips...LOL!
Info is below.
a) .357 Mag
b) ?
c) Round?
d) 6
e) Adjustable rear
f) Numbers and markings are in front of the cylinder on frame and include:
K7773##
MOD
19-2
513##
A. L
I have no idea what number is what. Guessing the 19-2 is model?
don’t know which is SN
g) ?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks! The K7773XX is the serial number. 19-2 is the Model number. The other numbers are assembly numbers and mean nothing
The gun was shipped near the end of 1967
You have a 32 Hand ejector 2nd change. Made from 1906-1909 with the serial number range of 51127-95500. Yours probably shipped in 1907 I would guessNew member. Inherited a S&W .32 Caliber Hand Ejector from my grandfather and looking for any and all information. the last patent date on the barrel is 09/14/1909. I have attached photos..
a) caliber-.32
b) bbl length (from cylinder to muzzle)- 4"
c) grips shape (round or square) photos attached
d) number of shots/cylinder bores-6
e) type of sights- fixed
f) serial number, and if there is a letter in front of or anywhere near the s/n on the bottom of the grip- 56292
g) Model number if it is under the crane.
That number, if it is the s/n, should come from the butt of the grip (or under the barrel or face of the cylinder)

You should have a Model 29 no dash. Model 29 should be stamped in the crane area when you open the cylinder. The model numbers started in 1957 and your gun should have shipped in 1958. Also according to the information I have, 8 3/8" Barrels were produced only after the model stamping started in 1958. There are a few pre 29's reported to have been made prior to 1957 but these are hardly ever seenCaliber 44 Magnum
Barrel length 8 and 3/8
Grip shape Coke bottle as far as I know diamonds
6 rounds
Original sites
Serial number S181428
Any info would be helpful such as year and location of manufactuer as well as price range. Gun is basically in Immaculate condition minus a couple Nicks on grips
Model pre 29?
10 groove tang on rear and barrel

There is no model 29 stamped in the crane just a repeat of the actual serial #You should have a Model 29 no dash. Model 29 should be stamped in the crane area when you open the cylinder. I would take the pictures and information to the S&W forum www.smith-wessonforum.com. Not to get it confused with the smithandwessonforum.com. There are 2 different ones. The first one is the one you want. We call it the big blue forum. The most knowledgeable S&W people on earth are on that forum. I'm hesitant to say, because as I understand it, the pre 29's in 8 3/8" are very rare, but I could be wrong. Only think I can tell you for sure is you are in good shape financially. Those guys over there won't try to steal it out from under you either. I'd sign up and put a post in the right catagory. The guy you want to respond is Doc44. In my opinion, one of the best S&W guys ever.I also am wondering what something like this is worth i payed 850 for her and im wondering what shes worth
Should be another X on serial number. H30002-H60000 shipped 1971-1972 With another digit on your serial number, your gun probably shipped in 1971a) .32 S&W Long
b) 4"
c) Square butt
d) Six cylinder holes
e) Fixed sights
f) H32XX
g) Model 31-1
Guessing 1969. 1970 at the latest.

Nope It is H and 4 digits only. I know that H serial numbers began 1969, thus my guess that it is first year since those were introduced.Should be another X on serial number. H30002-H60000 shipped 1971-1972 With another digit on your serial number, your gun probably shipped in 1971
Mod 29-3This going to be a thread for those who are looking for a date of manufacture for their S&W revolvers.
We'd need to know :
a) caliber
b) bbl length (from cylinder to muzzle)
c) grips shape (round or square)
d) number of shots/cylinder bores
e) type of sights.
f) serial number, and if there is a letter in front of or anywhere near the s/n on the bottom of the grip
g) Model number if it is under the crane.
That number, if it is the s/n, should come from the butt of the grip (or under the barrel or face of the cylinder).
A picture or two is worth A LOT of words in this case...
