If you could use only one...

Last turkey season I forgot to change out the watefowl season's modified choke for full...
Killed a nice tom with the modified choke and #5 2 3/4" shell at 30 yards.

I have a Mav 88 12 gauge with a Modified choke in the barrel, and I have cleared a many trap rounds with that shotgun.

I do have a full and an extra full choke, but have never used them.

IC or Lm is as close as you can get, that way the gun is fine for most tasks. If you need a tighter pattern for turkeys then you will have to look at reloading and trying to get tighter patterns with wad selection.

I wonder how the Indians killed turkeys without x-full 10 gauge shotguns.

My choice for only one would be IC. I think it's a wonderful all around upland bird choke and can be used with excellent results with rifled slugs on deer. I've used modified and it works fine but think the IC patterns better, without as many gaps and clumps. I have to say the newer shells are an improvement from the old in these matters.

Modified. I am mostly a duck and goose hunter and with lead shot on doves, modified gets it done, too. I'm not a turkey hunter. They say there are turkey around here, though. We just moved about 3 months ago and have a little land. Ain't seen one near the house yet, but if I do hunt 'em, I'll likely use a .22 magnum rifle, anyway.

Yeah, I rarely need anything, but modified. I do, however, have my SxS dove gun choked IC/mod and use the IC barrel often on doves close up, deadly out to 25 or 30 yards.

I went and picked up a modified choke yesterday. I'll probably pick up an IC and a full when funds allow, giving me a fairly full set without the in-betweeners like light modified and extra full. Based on the research I've done and the input I've gotten from this thread, modified should suit most of my needs fairly well to start off with.

I can make IC work for everything. I just have to get a little closer for turkey.

Actually I use IC tubes about 95% of the time for everything but turkey which means one of the extended extra full tubes. On rare occasions I will switch over to modified when ducks or dove are flying very high. I've found full to be pretty useless and cannot recall ever using one of those tubes.

+1 for modified. I have taken turkeys with a nef single shot 20 ga fixed modified using #6 shot (just as chas08 stated) with no issues. They just dropped.
