If you were hired as a Contractor...

Ummm.....Nuke?

Thermonuclear Suitcase Warhead and be done with the whole damned place... :fire:

Actually, I'd take an SEI M-14 mounted in a Troy MCS with 40mm below deck and for sidearms a Glock .45 and a S&W 642 for back-up. Trying to "blend in" is insane - it will get you shot by both sides. I too was considering contract work, but it was not worth a divorce....

Is there any real risk of your attempt to blend in, getting you confused for an enemy combatant?

Yes. Especially if you're in a vehicle unfamiliar to Allied forces.

Shotguns are unsuitable. I say this not because I've grown to believe carbines are better choices in general, but because a shotgun would be useless past a few yards, and has both excessive recoil and inferior penetration (unless using slugs, in which case, a rifle would usually be better for many reasons).

Likewise, while having several weapons in your vehicle is a good idea, stringing yourself with multiple firearms (4?! Christ) is just going to slow you down if you get in deep doo.

My choice...

L1A1 modified with the Israeli forward assist charging handle and bolt carrier. While I'm at it, put a 16.5" barrel on it and a rail setup with a 7.62 calibrated ACOG.

A Gas piston operated AR in .223 or .308 Prefering .223 cause there is so much of it. If that is out of the question get your self a good Milled USA made Ak. They will shoot good, also put a red dot on it. Also get that in 7.62x39 mags are easyer to come by and ammo for that would be everywhere. Go with a synthetic stock in whatever rifle you get.

Good luck and stay safe!

Our Galil SAR-s have shown themselves pretty well in the Sandbox, so that's what I would take, with some holo sight, or ACOG

I'd take a 10" supressed m4 with telescoping stock and irons, why? because I like being able to hear. Also I would have to take a glock 34 or a 1911.

I was told it was to be an HK G3 for that particular assignment.
Cant fault that choice... Only thing better "might" be a G3/K with retractable A4 stock.

M4, Springfield 1911, a good pair of boots and a nice set of body armor. Other than that some real good partners. Security and soldiering are two different things. No need to get offensive, just get out of dodge safely.

SW-5 from 'Special Weapons' - Gecko certified, Mall approved.

Seriously, probably an AK-74 with an Ultimak rail and EOtech - assuming I could make reliable hits with one. If not, AR-15 of some type with that pricey EOtech holosight. Must do something good for what they charge.

If neither one is available, gimme a Tommy Gun.

AK-47 without hesitation.

*Maybe* with some EO Tech holo sights or a red-dot with a simple lever removal system in case I need to dump it and resort back to irons. I don't have optics on my current AK-47 SAR-1 but I've used them before on friends' ARs and I was impressed with the EO Tech.

For long range work, a Dragunov SVD.
Sidearm would be a Glock 17 or a CZ-75.
Light machine gun would be Kalashnikov PKM, with a "sunroof" mount on a Riyadh-spec Toyota Land Cruiser that has been armorized to withstand 7.62x54R and 7.62x51 NATO.

Can you tell that I place an emphasis on reliability?

In addition, 7.62x39, 7.62x54R, and 9x19 are among the most common calibers in the world. If you're in some remote third-world jungle village and ask the local arms merchant for .40 S&W you will likely be out of luck.

You never said what you would be doing. That makes a big difference.

I don't know of any contractor on the ground making six figures a month. That would be something.

Posts: 858 View Profile | Email Member | | | I'm finally got a contract with a private company and I am going to the middle east. I cant give up too much more information than that, sorry. But I did just wanna check in before I leave in a few days. I got two new rifles for when I go over; one a highly modified M4A1 and the other a slightly modified Knight's Armament SR16.
The M4 has a new upper with a 11.5" threaded barrel for the .300 Whisper, flat top receiver, and KAC RIS. I carry both 150gr and 240gr rounds so I can go either super- or sub-sonic, respectively. I have a SureFire Scout Light ( http://www.lightfighter.com/istar.a...ept=LIGHTS&class=RIFLIT&sortby=&numperpage=28 ) and a Aimpoint CompM3 in place of the carrying handle. There is no front sight or any back-up sights at all. Basically, its my close quarters (0-200m range) rifle.
The SR16 is my long range rifle, it fires the Mk 262 Mod 1 77-grain 5.56mm NATO - which is a lot more accurate than the cheap stuff I was using. Its got a Harris HBL-S bipod and a Trijicon ACOG 4x 32mm model # TA31DOC and the standared M5 rail system.
