For my CHL. I had a few brushes with the law in my youth. I had to provide documentation of outcome. Ever try to find records from 1995 or 1991? From 2 different states? Even if you were a minor? That was a chore in itself.

The lady handling my application was very helpful and pleasant (I am not used to that from the gooberment) She put up with my constant questions and phone calls. Also if my record doesnt change I wont have to go through all this again.

Now after many phone calls, letters, and faxes I was approved at 0800 this morning.:what:

I was sweating it. Besides the obvious reason for carrying, I have another problem. I am always, always, delayed on the NICS check. Making gun shows strictly an ammo, or parts buying experience.

Now I have a reason for my Ultra Carry CDP II with diamondback snake skin grips besides looking cool on my nightstand :D

I am happy as a bear in a dumpster. Its nice when the law works in my favor.

Now there is only one thing left in my sig line to accomplish. Must do my part to prevent certain nominees from taking my rights.

Congadulations on joining the club of responsible, armed citizens carrying concealed weapons!

We all did dumb things in our youth
Glad you turned out ok and that the law was on your side.
Now enjoy the awsome HUGE responsibility!

Stay safe and out of trouble :neener:

Congrats!

Like the sig line... It almost makes me want to write letters to the sponsors of the '94 ban thanking them for spurring me to start my collection. (might even show a pic to rub it in)

Isn't the FNG supposed to buy ammo? Mine is .45acp, thank you very much.

Congratulations on getting your CPL. Also congratulations on getting your life in order.

I don't know anout Texas, but here in Virginia we have that "one gun a month law" - kind of hard on the budget, but we all do what we can. (Seriously, the VA CHP negates the one a month restriction.)

stay safe.

Congrats on the CHL qualification. You stepped out of "civilian" into "Citizen".

In reference to post #9 and "one gun a month", Not here.
Quoted from the TSRA March/April issue, pg. 8:
"I remember gun-a-month legislation years ago and a comment from Jerry Patterson, our current Land Commissioner. Patterson said he thought gun-a-month was good legislation, only it should be shall-purchase legislation, in other words everyone must buy one gun a month."

Personally, I like the idea!:D

congratulations! how long ago did you send in your app? I sent mine in over a month ago and I'm still waiting.

Back in March. I got a letter in May that they needed more info on my record.

Here in CA, "approved" takes on a whole different slant, meaning you have the approval to CCW based on the whim of the sherriff, not any pesky factual stuff like you had to go through.

I was born and raised in Kalipornia. I got to Texas as fast as I could. My 1991 charge was "Furnishing dangerous drugs without a prescription" I was 13 years old and had my antibiotics at school. The school called the cops, they took me to the station and released me to my dad. No punishment from my dad or the county. I had completely forgot about it and didnt put it on my application.

If it had been marijuana I probably wouldnt have a record there. I dont miss it at all

Typically takes around 60 days or so...

Edit: I sent mine in around April 10-11 or so and I think it was in my mailbox on May 3, so scratch that 60 days estimate. It varies per person but they say 60 days.

kbarrett, what do you mean had your records sealed? a friend of mine had a problem in his youth (age 15) and got probation, which was flawless, 2 days in a juvie home, a fine and community service. He was under the impression that it would keep him from getting a CHL. can you expand on this?

Congrats to you man.

Wish I could join you, but you know..... california.

Once again, welcome to the club!
And like others said: YOUR ARE A CITIZEN NOW!!! Not a subject.

S.C.A.R.Y.

There is something seriously wrong with this. I assume the drugs were given to you by a doctor.

Good for you! 15 years ago, if someone had told you of this day, you would have said some unpleasantries. :) Be healthy; be safe.
