Stop complaining and go apply.
Being apathetic about it won't solve a damn thing.

That guy is in LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA so um...yeah...go tell that same thing to the freakin' pogues in NYC. Sure, you "can" can apply for a permit in NYC and YOU can even give them the $500+ it takes to even APPLY when they KNOW they will be denied. Do you really expect a "regular joe" to throw $500+ in the trash?

Until you have a denied application in hand, there's no excuse to complain about how hard it is to get a permit.

Again, feel free to throw down the cash, follow and document the exploits of a "normal person" trying to get a carry permit in NYC. What do you not understand about "learning from others' experiences"? Do you also need to lick a hot frying pan so you can PERSONALLY say it hurts and "poo poo" others for saying the same thing but they haven't actually done it themselves?

I'm particularly curious as to why someone would join the forum just to state that getting a permit is impossible.

Yeah, because the SOLE purpose of this site, and even this forum, is NOTHING more than only getting permits, right? Again...

Yup i got it as stated earlier,is ok you missed it as any good thoughts even afterwards are fine imo.
I think they could have played a joke on me and told me i was denied and they would record my response and play it back for future laughs.
With all the time and money involved in getting a license and seriousness and responsibility of carrying a handgun i had a lot riding on that phone call.

So everyone knows i don't leave home without my gun,i own 2 now just for cww and plan too add 2-3 more. One for every occasion.

What also could be a nice coincidence is my Birthday is tomorrow,so getting my license on that day would be sweet

I went and did the paperwork and prints when I was getting vehicle tags a few years ago. I didn't get mine on my b-day, but it was signed by the Probate Judge on my B-day. I thought that was kinda funny in a coencidental (sp?) sort of way.

God luck

ETA-Maybe my dumb@$$ ought to read the whole thread before posting.

scotthsi, you seem pretty excited there ... perhaps the first time I've seen someone get excited about giving up.
If there's no way to get a permit, then it is time for activism, lawsuits, or rethinking why your government doesn't trust you. I wouldn't move or avoid an area because I couldn't get a permit, but I would be writing my representatives open letters and joining up with activism groups ... not just giving up.

Gosh, I wonder if anyone else has thought of that.

And in fact there are a number of lawsuits around the country attacking various draconian gun control laws, including litigation seeking explicit application of the 2nd Amendment against the states, and challenging "may issue" laws in California and the District of Columbia. A "shall issue" bill was introduced in California, but got stalled in committee; and we will renew our efforts again next legislative session.

And BTW, it can cost several million dollars to take a 2nd Amendment case to the Supreme Court. The bill for Heller was $3.5 Million. If you'd like to contribute, send a few bucks to the NRA. Or perhaps you'd rather just insult those of us who point out the current practical difficulties of getting a permit in some jurisdictions by calling us apathetic or accusing us of giving up. I strong suspect that more than a few of us have contributed to, and will continue to be active in, the efforts to change things, but going into all that would be taking this thread even more off topic.

Yes, everyone that can get a CCW permit, should, and pronto. For a lot of reasons, one of which my wife brought up at dinner tonight about being notified about a dirtbag that may show up at the church where she teaches one day a week for a home-school co-op. It's a shame she's probably the only sheepdog in the building.

I wish I could apply for a CCW, but last I checked it was illegal in Illinois. However that law doesn't seem to apply to every gang member and minority in that damn city run by King Dailey.:cuss:
