I'm so confused: Sig P239 or Glock 19?

I have both, like both, shoot both about equally well. They are about the same size. The Sig feels a tiny bit better IWB to me in a similar holster. The Glock is a bit lighter and has more capacity. The Glock is ugly as all get out and the Sig is a thing of beauty. What to do as far my EDC? Help me out here before I wind up in counseling.

I used to think Glocks were ugly.. I just wanted something to go bang every time.. Now I don't think there are ugly anymore. They just work...

Not sure I'd be able to call a SIG pretty.

But at all events, it's a concealed weapon, not a fishing lure. Effectiveness is the only important factor. For me the Glock would be easily more effective.

(Though I don't own one.)

They're pretty different guns... My money? I'd go with the P239. My father owns and carries one, and while I've always been a 1911 guy it is one sweet little shooter. I've spent time shooting and carrying it, and I'd feel totally comfortable walking out the door with it today.

Never much liked Glocks...

But if you like 'em both and still can't decide, maybe it's time to flip a coin?

Glock 19/23 has my vote. Had a P239. Was a great gun and worked well but was heavy and I could carry the G19 just as good. Like stated, I had a P239 and still have the G19.

Considering I wouldn't even consider any pistol that's DA/SA, and I liked my 19, go with the Glock.

I shoot so much better with the 239 that there really isn't much to compare.

I had a P239, it was very accurate and 100% reliable. Sold it, just liked my Glock 19 better.

You've already stated the Sig feels a little better in the holster... As long as its been proven reliable, that is your answer...

I'm also curious if you shoot each string with the 239 with the first shot fired DA....

G-19 is the better choose for many reasons.

I shoot mine DA first shot. I'm more accurate faster with the heavier 239.
I'm 137# and carry IWB with no problems. The pistol has been without a fault for many years.
I also shoot production class with a DA/SA steel pistol.

Recently my wife was in a similar situation with an FN FNS-40, an SA XDm-45 3.8 and a Walther PPK/S-1. Different guns; same indecision dilemma.

Her solution ... she bought all three. Why fight it; get what you want. You likely will sooner or later anyway.

I would go with the Glock 19. Feels better in my hand than the SIG P-239 and has more rounds in the magazine.

That too!

I like our differences. Wouldn't life be boring if we all drank from the same cooler and owned one and the same pistol?

I bought a G17 back in 1986, and for ~18 years thought I was just a bad shooter. My patterns looked like a blast from a 12 gauge buckshot shell.

Then I bought a P239 and wow, look at that, holes are touching!

I'd be totally out of the 9mm game (just for consolidation) except I just love that P239 too much. It's my go-to open and concealed carry pistol. For me it shoots better, carries better, feels better in the hand, and has been 100% reliable with anything I've fed it.

I do shoot the SIG DA first shot; no real problem there; the trigger is just smooth and breaks easy for me. I like the handling of the SIG better, but the trigger reset on the Glock is crisper and shorter. I guess I just like both of these guns and will end up carrying both, depending on how I feel about it. The SIG just caries and handles so darn well; for me, it is perfectly balanced on the hip and in the hand. maybe that's one of the reasons it's an $800 pistol. Thanks for all the input and replies.

How fast do you cycle the trigger for the first shot? How fast is the second shot? How close together are the hits?

BAD idea! If you're used to carrying the Sig then switch to the Glock because you "felt like it" that day, you're setting yourself up for a nasty surprise when you think you you have a long, heavy DA pull when you don't. PICK ONE, then stick with it.

Your posts say you should carry the Sig, so carry the Sig.

I second that. Did not want to come on too strongly, but glad another Member stepped up.

Metal-framed Walther, CZ, and Beretta pistols are pretty. 1991s are as well. I'm sure I've left some out, but you can see where my aesthetic sense lies. Prettiest of all Hi Powers.

Most modern pistols from the major makers shoot remarkably well. It's kind of hard to get a really bad one.

Solution is simple. Carry your Glock 19 for CCW since its more resistant to corrosion from sweat and marring of the gun when accidentally being banged around. Shoot your Sig at paper, use it for house defense and other non CCW duties and keep it looking good.

I've had both and carried both. The SIG was just a bit smaller in the grip than I liked -- but didn't think about changing grips. I also like the fact that the Glock had a greater mag capacity.

Either one is a good gun, and you should go with whichever one shoots/feels best to you. The opinion of others -- except for matters of reliability -- are arguably less important than YOUR response to the weapons.

I would go for the Glock. I personaly prefer trigger consistency on every shot. I find it quite difficult to start out with DA followe by SA. The Glock stayed SA from start to finish.
