I'm very upset with all the people on all the gun forums I reed. I was never informed that once I bought a gun I would be going crazy wanting to take it to the range. I was also not informed that once I took it to the range and put some lead through it, I would want to do it more and more. I was also not told that I would want to buy more guns.

Honestly I'm so happy with my Mark III 22/45 and my performance with it I can't believe it. I just need another one so I don't have to wait while my wife takes her turn.

Well, it is one of those things once you're in it is tough to get out. I am the same way I have been shooting for about 6 years now & I constantly have the fever to buy a new gun. I don't know that I will ever be satisfied.

In order to help you with your addiction, I would be more than happy to hold on to your guns for you so that you will not be tempted. :)

Hate to be the one to break it to you, but the addiction never goes away. I have been at it for 44 years and if anything, it just gets stronger. That's why these places exist-----to feed the hunger.

Yeah... that's how it starts... Usually the first taste is free... A "friend" hooks you up with a .22 or a few rounds with an SKS. Next thing you know, you're experimenting with a gateway gun like the MKIII. Then you're hanging around gunshows... scoring an HK45 and a P220... And eventually, you're looking to mainline FALs and looking for the REALLY GOOD STUFF like an L82...

My dear, dear friend neededausername,

Let me speak to you about the wonderful world of 03-FFL's and C&R firearms...

You don't know the meaning of addiction until you've spent the day at home looking out the window because EVERYTHING sounds like air breaks. No man you don't know. YOU DON'T KNOW!

Just one more caliber. I can stock it. yeah! I got the room. *twitch twitch* Stop looking at me like that. I can stop anytime. But I need one more Garand. I only have two. You need three for the set. Don't judge me man. Don't you judge me!

Is that an obscure proof strike on that receiver? I don't have one like that. Yeah yeah, but the other 4 don't have that mark.

I need to call my sponsor, man. I gotta go!...

Excellent choice for a first gun. Good luck with your addiction, it only gets worse.

That Mark III 22/45 is fun to shoot isn't it? That was my first purchase and someone just gave me the heads-up on the STI group buy.

Addictive might not be an adequate word. :D

Just call me the candy man...

Yea, I'm just a few months into this hobby and have already bought 5 firearms and sold 2... and my UPS man is getting a workout lugging ammo to my 2nd floor apartment...

My recommendations are to buy used guns at prices you can turn around and quickly sell for what you paid - buy your ammo online and reload the brass. Also, try and funnel your business to a local shop you trust that will shower you with discounts. :)

I was told to watch out for signs of advancing addiction:

  • Picking up brass at a range, then deciding since you have the brass you might as well buy a rifle in that caliber.
  • When working up a load, you find out you're short on brass so you go to the range so you can shoot some previous loads so you have brass to reload.
  • You take up reloading to "save money", but find out that all you achieved is now you can afford to shoot more.

So, if you've managed to avoid collecting rifles like Garands, and you haven't taken up reloading yet, you are still relatively pure in heart.

If you hang around these forums long enough, or (heaven forbid) read gun magazines, you are heading down the path toward ruin... :)

The pet shop owner sez "take the little puppy home and see if you two get along, if not you can bring the puppy back".

Pet shop owner does not tell you "listen kid, you take that puppy home, you are hooked on that puppy".

Life is full of stuff like this...*grin*

only thing keeping me from buying another gun to keep and hold till death do us part...oops wrong line here...

i am all most down to selling blood just to buy another svt-40 or a ljungman,ar 15 clone, ak clone, etc, etc.

yes it's an addiction

lean on back and revel in the sweet savor, my man.

don't fight it, just let it flow, like solid lead flowin through your veins,

ahhhh yea

yup thats what me and my girlfriend did and got tired of it quickly. yup you've officially caught it and theres years of rehab if you ever try to escape it lol

How about a local gun shop that feeds your addiction by offering a 6 month range membership for every $500.00 you spend...pretty much guarantees you buy 2 guns a year. But then you wind up buying your next gun before your membership runs out...uh-oh!

Reloading

Buying and shooting guns is gateway dope....just wait till you start reloading..........
