Israel attacking Lebanon

Erebus,

Christian involvement shows you that there are more reasons that people fight than just religion. It's not a religious war, it's a nationalist war with religious participants.

As for your quotes...Israel does not equal all Jews. See my above comment on Iran's Jewish population and Jewish government officials.

Regarding Mahmoud Zahar (foreign minister), Palestinian does not mean Muslim. That is pretty basic; Arabic speaking, pre-immigration Muslims, Jews, and Christians are all considered to be Palestinian by every Palestinian group, including Hamas.

You mention Iran trying to protect Jews through their constitution, student...when the president of Iran has repeatedly called for the Zionist state to be removed from the planet and the alleged atrocities that occured in Europe during WWII was a sham...

Our alleged allies in the middle east, Saudi Arabia, has been linked to several terrorist organizations, including Hamas and the PLO. They would offer care to ones family for ones attempt to kill infidels by suicide bombing...Syria has been a hotbed of terrorism for many many years...

Now before anyone starts the flames here...I am not saying that the ENTIRE population of these countries are Islamic extremists...but the ones that ARE, it seems, are the ones that get all the visualization on Al-jazeera and the other world news organizations...

Egypt was ready to remove Israel from the map...Do we all remember or at least know about the 6-Days war?

Not only is this not a war to exterminate Jews, it's not even remotely possible for anyone to actually destroy Israel, so that's a non-issue.
The literal translation of Islam is "submission". Is submission a non-issue?

Those willing to submit will be at peace (I guess) to be ruled by the mullah's decree (ah nothing like a theocracy... which, supposedly, our forefathers decided to be an unworthy goal in their age of enlightenment... and I concur).

Those not willing to submit... are going to be in it for the long haul. Whether you stay behind guarded walls and pray for an end to their hostilities or venture forth to meet them where you find them, is a choice every man and nation must take.

History has shown that oft times, the best defense is a good offense, like it or not. The whole "pre-emptive" strike philosophy doesn't sit well at home here at times, certainly not if it's used willy nilly, but against a known philosophy who ARE out to get you and who DO use "first-strike" against innocent victims as well as bona-fide military/gov't targets, it is certainly an option for those in the hot seat.

I was told once by a Saudi friend (back in college days, circa 74-78) that their version and definition of "Peace in the Mid-East" will be the end of all Jews from Palestine. This from a well educated young man from a wealthy Saudi family studying Architectural Engineering in the heartland of Kansas. Some things haven't changed much, have they?

I don't have to like it, I only need to survive it as I choose not to submit. As for others, they can choose as they see fit. Ignore it. Submit to it. Put on your war face (at least have it standing by, ready at hand) waiting for it to come. Or go out hunting.

Sad, that.

Unfortunate that this situation is ungoing.
Reality is that Moslem governments will never accept a "real" peace with Israel. Dictatorships cannot abide democracy, it sets a bad example for them. Israel is surrounded by Dictatorships. Much is the same why Moslem militants hate the West, Democracy sets a bad example and with todays expanding communications network plus many Moslems visiting Western nations and bringing back Western concepts that pose a challenge to old ways of thinking. The Jihadists fell "endangered". They like the power they have and are going to do whatever to keep it! Expect the fight to go on and get worse.
May Peace and Sanity Prevail!

I see Hamas broke Goodwins Law real quick. Kinda like lefties in the US. NAZI<NAZI<NAZI. I bet there is alot of NAZI screaming at our prestigious Universities today by the lefty kook professors. Wonder if there is a USA CIA Conspiracy flaying saucer event also.:neener:

Christians living in any Islamic land have submitted to dhimmitude. They've been bullied into supporting whatever the Muslim majority want, or else.

"This is not a religious war" -but look at today's headlines:

"India Struck by Evil" -referring to amost 200 innocent civilians murdered by 7 bombs planted by Islamic terrorists on commuter trains.

"Dead Soldier: Father Says His Son Was Proud To Make A Difference" -referring to a Canadian trooper killed in Afghanistan fighting Islamists

"Connections to Suspects Innocent: Jaballah" -referring to a Canadian Muslim denying his coziness with al-Quaeda sympathizers indicates his guilt

"Interpol Decries Lack of Notice Over Suspected Al-Quaeda Escapees" -referring to more jihadis in Saudi Arabia

"Good Riddance" -referring to the death of Chechen (Islamist)terrorist leader, Shamil Basayev at the hands of Russian special forces

"Let's Not Forget About Modern Slavery" -a letter about current Muslim controlled trade of African slaves while leftists bemoan American slavery which ended in 1865.

"Grenade Attacks Kill 8 Tourists, Injure 39" -in Kashmir, blamed on Islamic separatist rebels

"Gen. Casey: Terrorists, Death Squads to Blame In Iraq" -refering to Muslim insurgents killing civilians in Baghdad

Maybe you should be telling THEM it's not a religious war.

Maybe you should be telling THEM it's not a religious war.

Don't have to, they know it's a religous war because they are the ones that are waging it.

People who don't think it's a religous war are only fooling themselves. Hopefully that folly won't cost them their lives.

Israel. Most definitely. First strike in the 1967 war

That's true in the most technical, literal sense. And ONLY in that sense.

If the US had spotted the Japanese fleet steaming towards Pearl Harbor in early December, 1941, and had launched an attack to ground the planes and sink the ships, then technically, America would have "struck first." That's about what happened in 1967, except that the Egyptian leadership was also OPENLY calling for the destruction of Israel, massing troops and planes, conferring with allies, and blockading Israeli shipping.

War is not a sporting event.

They must have some really good weed where you go to school.

Hey Shootin Student, why is it that you have never started a thread???

540+- posts never started a thread of your own.

You always come in and Hijack other folks threads.

Then they get locked.

If anyone doubts this please look at shootinstudents profile and see how many threads he has responded to that have been locked, Its about 90% of them.

No offense or personal criticism of any type intended. Its just that I noticed this when you hijacked my General war in the ME thread, and turned it into a debate about wether Gengus Kahn or the muslems were better warriors, or something like that.

Master Blaster,

I noticed the same thing when I checked his profile out. This guy has sure got some unique views when it comes to his posts! Dont know where he is getting this stuff, maybe his libral proffessors at whatever school he attends.

ShootinStudent,

I seem to remember that the Christian Militia was allied with the State of Israel in the fight against Arafat and his many PLO controled "terrorist factions" that were operating both in and out of Lebanon.

Hezbollah, should be made to pay for blowing up our Marines and I sure hope that Israel makes them do just that.

The Axis of Evil will fall.

Base of Operation: Lebanon

Hezbollah is an umbrella organization of various radical Islamic Shi'ite groups and organizations which receives substantial financial and philosophical support from Iran. It was founded in 1982 in response to the invasion of Lebanon by Israel that same year, and subsumed members of the 1980s coalition of groups known as Islamic Jihad. The group is led by religious clerics who promote the establishment of an Islamic state in Lebanon. After the attacks of September 11th, Hezbollah is responsible for the next largest anti-American terrorist attack. In October 1983, a truck bomb killed 241 American Marines at the multinational force barracks in Beirut. The following year, a suicide bombing at the U.S. embassy in Beirut killed 17 Americans, including many of the embassy's CIA staff. The group is also thought to be responsible for attacks against US and Jewish targets in Africa, Sweden, Denmark, Thailand, Argentina and the UK. The 1992 bombing of the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires and the 1994 bombing of a Jewish cultural centre in Buenos Aires are the most well known.

Very rarely do I put someone on ignore here at the High Road. However, after I carefully read this thread, shootinstudent made it.

Not only is this not a war to exterminate Jews, it's not even remotely possible for anyone to actually destroy Israel, so that's a non-issue.

That's not what the 21st century's Haman over in Iran thinks - he wants to "wipe Israel off of the map." Oh, and just a little detail or two - his nation is furiously trying to enrich uranium to weapons-grade, and has bought many missiles (able to hit Israel) from that escaped mental patient in North Korea.

1 nuke over Israel, and its pretty much time to pack it in for that country. Off course, before things would be finished over there, I'd fully expect to see every large Arab city made into a smouldering radioactive slag pit, and the Aswan High Dam to be destroyed, but apparently a lot of Arabs think that this cost would be justified to get rid of the JOOOOOOOOS!

Hawkman

I just put shootinstudent on Ignore also. First time that I ever did that...and I've noticed a significant reduction in my bloodpressure already!:)

Its really a great feature - you know that someone said something that had about a 95% chance of enraging you with its stupidity, selective use of fact, twisting of other facts and general prejudice, but now you don't have to read it. Its the next best thing to shooting a full auto.

That's right, straight for the man. I'd reckon that if large numbers of threads that shootinstudent has participated in have been locked, it's probably because people feel the need to attack him, and publicly state that they are now ignoring him. That probably helps get those threads locked.

That probably helps get those threads locked.

I'm not a Mod, but I suspect that threads get locked when people start making irresponsible and deliberately insulting statements, and others begin to respond. Putting someone on "Ignore" defuses the situation, it doesn't make it worse. Sorry, but you are almost certainly wrong - and, despite that, I won't put you on Ignore. :p

What happens when you put someone on ignore? Their posts get deleted on your screen?

And if you make someone your buddy? Their posts automatically get forwarded to your e-mail?

What if someone is a troll from the Democratic Underground -will Moderators eventually block him/her from posting at THR?

A bit of history, just as a recap:

The 1967 war was initiated by Syria and Egypt. That war resulted in comments like, "Egyptian tanks have one speed forward and three in reverse," and a joke about an Israeli tank colliding with an Egyptian tank. The Egyptians jumped out, yelling, "We surrender!" while the Israeli jumped out yelling, "Whiplash!" Needless to say, the Arabs bit off way more than they could chew.

My own fond memory, from the TV, is of Israeli Ambassador Abba Eban in the UN, drawing himself up to his full five-foot, four inches, saying to to a very disgruntled Arab delegation: "There are three million Jews. There are 200 million Arabs. Is the distinguished gentleman from Egypt trying to say we surrounded them?"

In 1973, Israeli intelligence--and the world at large--knew that another effort from the slow learners of the Losers' Brigade was imminent. So, logically, the Israelis "got there fustest with the mostest" and won again. They probably would have gone on into Egypt and wound up owning the joint but for US pressure on Israel to quit.

All I'm saying Sam is that to state that you are ignoring a poster is equivalent to shouting 'nah nah nah I can't hear you'. It's not mature, it doesn't help and it probably lowers the tone of any given thread.
