Anyone know a good reference book for Model 37 Ithaca's 16, 20, 12 gauges?
i.e. finding dates for serial numbers, etc.?
am wondering what year my Model 37R was born. The serial number is 557760-2 and it says 16 GA Featherlight 2 3/4 MOD
Also, I wonder if I can put a rifle slug through this?

Also I've looked around the Ithaca sight am I looking in the wrong area to find serial number production years, information, etc?
Yes- you are looking in the wrong place. It is in Black Talon's reference book. From perusing this thread, it seems he has the only copy in existance- no fair- all of his post count is coming from this one thread!!
My SN is 371709XXX I'd like to know when it was made. I know it is not a real old model, just wondering.
Years ago when I called Ithaca for some new wood they asked for the SN.
So I told them and the girl said OH!! you have a military or law enforcement version or something like that, I don't remember exactly.
But what does make this M37 different is it is nickle plated. No parts are blued.
Can anyone supply more info on this version?
