I have a .38S&W Lovell Iver Johnson .38S&W top break revolver.

Antique firearm, in excellent shape, except for one catch..well rather latch...

It is missing the button/latch to hold the topbreak shut.
It appears to be a more elusive revolver than most other topbreaks.
Parts seem non-existent and I can't use a different models.

I will post a few pictures of the button and top break latch it needs.

I had a hard time finding even google photos of these guns..no youtube videos on them either.

Thinking I might just need to have a machinist make a replacement for it..without ever seeing one..the latch appears to use a push button like design.

Will update photos in the morning.

I'm very interested in the photographs when you post them.
As am I. Those old top breaks are neat guns for sure and the more obscure ones can be very interesting for one reason or another. Often times the rare ones have some kooky feature that wasn’t well recieved. They are pretty simple though so parts can be made. Making parts like what you need is what got me started down the path of machine tools (usually improvised tools) that I’m still on. Are parts completely missing or just out of spec and not usable?

Mine believes that he is just another human living in our house. He gets indigent if I treat him like the other cats.

To keep it on topic, I’d still like to see the photos. Iver Johnson is an interesting manufacturer.
