jammed up ar-15

hey gus my ar is jammed up really bad. i cant even pull the slide back to kick the shell out manually. any suggestions on getting it out?.. this is a brand new smith and wesson mp 15 only got about 200 rounds through it

First, make sure the rifle is pointed in a safe direction. Now, slam the stock of the rifle down on the deck at about a 45 degree angle while simultaneously pulling on the charging handle. This should clear most problem jams.

Do you know if you have a live round or a fired round in the chamber right now? Also, what type of ammo were you using when this happened? Any weird sights or sounds when this happened?

yeah the round is dead i was able to pull the upper reciever off and cock back the hammer and fire it a couple times while i was out and it didnt go so im guessing it is dead. yeah i made the mistake of using wolf ammo because it was only 159 a brick of 1000

If you have a solid cleaning rod, I'd just run a cleaning rod down the barrel and bang it out with a hammer. Lots of ARs run Wolf with no problems; but it does seem to have a reputation of the occasional stuck case.

I'd try the stuck case drill I mentioned first though.

that lacquer will gum up the works every time if you shoot fast anfurious. once you get the round out, you better take it a part and soak for a couple of days as many parts as you can, in solvent. that lacquer will hang up on springs and ejectors and the like, and will cause all kinda timing problems. you will be better off with some winchester 45 grn varmints, or black hills 55 grnrs, both are very reasonalby priced, at about 11 bucks a box, for 40 and 50 rounds respectively.

In my view, the lacquer is likely not the problem since the problem seems to occur both with the polymer coated Wolf and the older lacquer coated Wolf that was discontinued. My bet is it has more to do with the steel casing not acting the same as brass and throwing off the timing.

I'm far from being an AR expert, but this would be my guess.

I've had stuck cases of 3131A and commercial .223 brass ammo.

Don't automatically assume it's because of Wolf. BTW, I've NEVER had a stuck Wolf case in my AR's.

Ummm, no. From reading this. it sounds like a live round in there. If it didn't go bang, consider it live -- it may not have gone off because of a problem with the gun, and not because of a dud round.
