John Ross not delivering paid for JR500

Likewise, hope Mr. Ross turns out to be a flake. I would suspect his wife has the money. Ross must have some more angel looking after him. I had forgotten about this incident. Many years ago a customer had ordered a custom Sharps rifle from an individual. No rifle appeared. The man who had ordered the rifle was quite elderly and passed while all this was going on. The so-called maker finally refused registered letters. All along this guy gave bogus progress reports. Some time later one of the guru's at a Wolf magazine referred a reader to this guy for gun work. I got my two cents worth in on that crook. This Sharps maker may have been a flake whose reach exceeded his grasp. The money was still gone. Hope you handgun shows up while this thread is still going. Good luck and best wishers.

Basically, the suggestion is to get help where turkey can be prosecuted. That gets to be Federal PDQ. Interstate Commerce?
I'm not sure but maybe you could get the Postal Inspector involved since you sent payment through the U.S. Mail. It's possible that doesn't quality because he didn't make the offer through the mail but it can't hurt to ask.

Thanks for the information. Very helpful.
Obviously I don't anything about civil litigation/small claims.
I was doing everything in my power to resolve this in the most simple manner. Just receive gun or a refund as a last resort. At this point it is going to take more than just expecting someone to do the right thing on their own.

No problem. I would suggest getting the process started sooner rather than later. I can see if LE gets involved, everything stopping and seizure of assets to include whatever guns and\or cash he has on hand. If that happens, your guess is as good as mine as to when you'd see your revolver or cash.

Apparently $1500 is all his reputation was worth, because it's now shot to crap. Even if he shipped the gun today, the damage is done.

It's not one $1500.00 but an unknown number of down payments if this thing is a Ponzi scheme. OP shared with me some additional details that really made this situation really worse.

When I started this and the CB thread I just hoped it would get a response from JR, he would send the gun and it would be over.
By CB closing the thread making it look like everything was just a misunderstanding and would be fixed in a timely manner. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Situation seems to be getting farther from resolution every day that passes.

Has there been any contact outside of the CB thread?

It would be a good thing if some of the other victims could contact you by private email here or elsewhere.
They could PM me here. Only reason I knew about a few others in the same situation was another forum that I received PMs from.

Absolutely zero. He won't reply to certified letter, FB, email, text, phone at least from me.
Damn, I'm terribly sorry that this situation happened to you. I've never spent more than 900 on a gun and even that is alot for me, 1500 and to not have it delivered as promised would rile me up to the point that JR would write a book on me alone.

I've been a member at CB since '13 but don't post much there. I'm wondering if they will torpedo my account if I post over there that John Ross still hasn't shipped your gun and is still a deadbeat?

If anyone does I totally support it. I would try but I guarantee I would be shot down.
If it were to happen, if JR says he can't comment because of things in progress don't buy that. Anything that may or may not be happening can be stopped ASAP, I guarantee that.
I will reply over there if it does get going again. I will also note if my comments are edited or modded but may have to put it here.

What would I expect out of a response?
Exact shipping date/tracking # of gun or exact shipping date/tracking of refund in some certified payment method. text or email with tracking #.
No excuses, no explanations. He can give them to the community.

Wow less than 5 minutes and my thread was deleted
It wasn't me ranting that got it deleted. This is all I put.
What would I expect out of a response? Simple and to the point.

I deleted your post
I deleted your post, because you need permission from the owner (No_1) before posting deadbeat posts or posts like this that are much like a deadbeat post.

This is being reported, so all the Staff will have been notified of your post.

...AND FYI, John Ross did post in the previous thread and said he would be in contact with mtshooter. If you have new information WITH PROOF of the lack of contact after John Ross's posts here in that previous thread, please have that handy and send No_1 a PM with all the info you have...or have mtshooter PM No_1

thanks,
Jon

for reference:

John Ross still hasn't contacted mtshooter!
But he's been on Facebook since his last post. I'm very familiar with Mississippi river flooding situations as West Tennessee gets it all the time. I'm not buying the story that he's been tied up all this time with the flooding and there was no way for mtshooter's gun to be shipped in this amount of time. By his own words he has a person in St. Louis staying at his house and taking care of his other stuff, can that person not mail a package? I guess his reputation is worth $1500.
This is a sad situation all the way around. I am one to give folks the benefit of the doubt, but this just doesn't add up. A man with integrity would at least respond to his customer. John Ross has been on Facebook since being notified of this but hasn't contacted mtshooter.
The threshold for felony theft/fraud charges in Missouri is $500. A felony conviction would be detrimental to a firearms business.
