Congratulations on 3rd gen pistol and looks in great condition, I had to sell my first pistol a 469 but kept a 5906 ,no problems except for a corroded mag release plunger and spring. Some parts can be found at Numrich and springs from Wolff, maybe download a manual if don't have one.

A few years ago a LGS had a whole shelf full of 5906 turn ins. They let me go through them and I chose a couple I liked and purchased them. Paid ~ $200 OTD each. Figured I would keep the better shooting one and use the other for trade bait. When I got them home a friend happened by and we shot them in the back yard. He liked the one I was going to eventually trade so well he ended up buying it from me that day. A couple days later I went back and got a couple more and still have all three presently. Well built and dead nuts reliable whats more to ask.

FD1CAD2E-9FFE-4178-A6A2-15D77637BF63.jpeg Took a little more time today even though it is pretty brisk out, mid 20’s and windy. Pretty darn happy with the results on my little metal spinner. Standing about 10 yards away. Gonna pick up a recoil spring next time I’m in Brownells, which luckily is 20 minutes away. Doesn’t seem like it needs one, but it’s cheap preventative maintenance there only like $2.

I'm a big fan of these. Got a deal recently on some California Highway Patrol trade-ins, a compact 4013 and a duty sized 4006, both CHP marked. The 4013 has been on my hip every day for the last few weeks and the decocker only 4006 has become my go-to house gun with a TLR-1 light on it (I loved the milled in, stainless rail on the 4006.) Both are solidly constructed and fit the hand well, both for me and a few of my friends who have given them a range workout. Great pistols can can be found for very reasonable prices in most cases. I'm probably looking to replicate this setup in 9mm in the next year or two as well.

Congrats! I got a used 3913 about 5 years or so ago. It’s been very reliable and is my concealed carry gun.

The secret is out ... if you can find any decent specimen of a 3rd Gen S&W pistol, buy immediately. Simply some of the most robust, reliable pistols ever produced.

And the 3913 is my personal favorite (well, after the 5906) ...

IMO, you can do as well with other models, but rarely better.
That's a nice looking 3913! Congrats!

Fits the hand well, think I just found my new carry piece!

In terms of everything important when it comes to deciding on which semi-auto pistol is most reliable, dependable and durable for self-defense use, few pistols ever made are as good as "Third Generation" Smiths are and I would argue none are better. Though the Model 6906 is slightly more "bulky" than the petite Model 3913 (and other of its ilk configuration speaking), I accept its slightly fatter profile in trade for its increased magazine capacity.

At one point I had a 6906, a 5906, a 4006 TSW, and a 4506, all in great condition. I needed money and sold the 4506, and the 6906, and then decided to get rid of all my .40 guns, so the 4006TSW went.
I made a decent profit on all of them. My 5906 stayed on, and replacing the 3 I sold is on my "future buy" list. I recently was offered a deal on a very rough shooter grade 6906, but I passed. I kind of regret it.

Still pocket carry a 6906. When I want some fun range time, I take out the old 645. Still trying
to find a GEN III- 10mm. A 1006, IIRC.

While not a Third Gen, I really regret not buying the possibly-unfired 669 I came across about a year ago. It was only $425, with two magazines and the original box. Add that to the list of "I should've bought that..."

I’ve been eyeballing the 39’s lately too, really nice looking especially in nickel.
I'm on my 2nd M39. I reanodized the frame on the first one black and added faux ivory grips to simulate Vasquez's pistol from "Aliens." Sold it to my buddy to fund the next one- factory nickel.;)
Wouldn't mind finding a steel frame one some day, IIRC they made 900 or so. They turn up from time to time for a couple hundred more than an alloy framed model.

Congrat on your new to you 3913. I've always like the look of those S&W's.

Pelo801- Finally found where my 669 fits into the mix! Thank you for the link.

Gen 3s are superb weapons. Give this little test a try. Load a few rounds, then an empty case, then some more rounds. Shoot. Chances are excellent that the only way you'll know when the empty is in the chamber is by the 'snap' of the hammer falling.

Not many guns will feed and empty case. All of my gen 3 Smiths would either hand fed or by firing. None of my Glocks will. :) And I'm a Glock fanboi.
