I have an early 70s Belgian-made SA-22. I'm sure you'll sort out the rear sight issue. Here's a thought - a few years back, the NRA (and also Ruger) had a nice padded, 2-compartment carry case that works perfectly for the SA-22 when it's broken down. I don't know who actually made it, but both the NRA and Ruger embroidered their names on it. I assume it will also fit the Ruger take-down 10-22. If you look around you may still be able to find one. One more valuable tip for anyone owning an SA-22... when you either separate the two halves of the rifle or put it back together, DO NOT wrap your had around the wrist of the stock! Hold the receiver and NOT the stock! Many SA-22s have been broken at the wrist, where the stock is attached to the action! It's very easy to apply a little too much torque to the stock without realizing it. Enjoy your rifle!
