There has been a lot of debate as to the exact thickness of the AES-10B (Romanian RPK knock-off) receiver. Well, today I decided to settle the issue once and for all. Got out my calipers, removed the stock on my rifle, and measured the receiver thickness in three places at the rear. Yup, 0.060", or 1.524mm. Note that if you want to replace the fire control group you will either have to find one made for the RPK or narrow the hammer to allow the retainer spring to fit.

Hell of a rifle for four bills. Had some minor early teething problems with the Century fire control group--the top surface of the sear was so rough that it caused short stroking when contacting the hammer. However, some judicious stoning/shooting solved that problem in a hurry. Now that thing runs like a top.

It's as close to a Romanian-issue RPK as I'll ever get without enlisting in the Romanian Army.
