Keanu Reeves 3 Gun

What's the story on his swinging the rifle around behind him...instant DQ for safety in every scenario I shot...but I never shot a stage where rifles were on sling. Is this normal or did my spider senses immediately pick up on an issue?

Looks like the difference between real life and a carefully (for ultimate safety) controlled game/sport.

He's training for a movie, not to start competing. Better to imitate the real thing

Might look up comments by Stallone and Liam Neeson about that - both have excoriated the gun rights concept while making bank by using guns.

I'll hot link that for ya ;)

Warning NSFW language if you play it:

She had to get that wall-cartwheel thing done right on the first take, BTW. They "could" reset but it would have set production back a month if she biffed it. :)
i just completed course with Instructor Zero and he made me perfect the move shown here at 2:16
:)

I'm not surprised he can shoot; actors, especially action guys, have to be highly practiced at moving themselves for the screen, which of course translates well into other athletic areas (as well as music, dance, etc). Practice, preparation, execution, performance under pressure; all are analagous to many types of elite performance (jokes about his wooden performances aside, Reeves is actually very good when he needs to be, but often isn't the best about choosing his projects --much like Nick Cage, only far more plausible as an action hero)

No, they had an article about Wahlberg's guns used in the movies. They are all fake so he does not run afoul with the law.

And he is involved with a movement to get congress to fund the rights restoration of convicted felons.

He uses real guns and live rounds in preps for many of his movies, here is just one example from Lone Survivor. There are many more, just do a youtube search.

I liked the gun handling and shooting, fighting scenes in John Wick. It was obvious ha dead had some good training for it. The movie itself was ok. Would be happy to,have a sequel. Not a lot of movies have good gun handling n

I always wonder why people expect the actors on stage playing a role to be anything like that role in their personal lives.

I don't expect them to be like their on screen characters. But they should put their morals above money. This is why people are angry at some of them. If they truly believe that firearms should be confiscated, and all the other anti talking points, then they should not promote their use on screen. I personally can't stand hypocrites and find it to be a major character flaw.

Wahlberg's earnings in movies with firearms.

Transformers : Age of Extinction.... $17,000,000
Lone Survivor ....................... $4,000,000 (He gave 1/2 his earnings away)
2 Guns ............................... $10,000,000
Shooter ............................... $10,000,000
The Departed ........................ $5,000,000
Four Brothers ........................ $2,000,000
The Italian Job ........................ $2,500,000
Three Kings ........................ $2,000,000

For a hypocrite, Felon, and an anti-gun guy, he seems to make a pretty good living with a firearm in his hand.

I don't see how you make the connection that if they use guns on screen they're promoting them.

Actors play a role. There are things we see on screen that SHOULDN'T happen. There are actors who play villains who murder someone on screen. Do you think that actor is promoting murder? Do you think he should publicly say that murder should be fine in real life before they can portray such a role?

There are actors who portray dictators, or any number of other horrible things on screen. They're not promoting anything or doing political commentary. They're simply telling a story and nothing more.

Gun rights are no different. What someone does on screen doesn't - and actually shouldn't - have any bearing as to their real life opinions on any subject.

Sorry but I see it completely different. If they don't take a political stand then I have no issues w/ it. When they open their mouth against it then I have a problem. At that point they aren't guided by their morals and they are hypocrites. It's called talking the talk but not walking the walk.

They would do best to keep their mouth shut. All it does is polarize your audience. I personally have stopped paying money to see/buy a lot of actors movies. Same goes for comedians and that list is even longer. All I can do is vote w/ my wallet and let others know where they stand.

As far as promoting everything on screen goes. There is always a suspension of disbelief. But they are promoting violence. There isn't any way around this. Wether you buy into it is up to you.

If you watch the special features of the movie Shooter, where Wahlberg portrays a Marine Sniper, the person training him says how excited Wahlberg got when he shot out to 1000 yards. So excited he called people he knew proclaiming his new found skill. Its on film Felon..... whats a Felon.....lol.....

I agree with mgmorden. If an actor is anti-gun it's fine to call it out as it would be for any celebrity. But calling it hypocrisy is disingenuous; after all, someone can portray a rapist without promoting or capitalizing on that terrible crime and I would personally both (1) hope they're not condoning it in real life, and (2) certainly not call them a hypocrite for having different opinions than the fictional characters they portray.

When I watch a motion picture (or television show), I care not about the actor's personal feelings about firearms or his/her politics, I care only about whether they accurately portray their part, to include the physical stuff (anyone remember Gary Cooper looking totally unlike a major-leaguer when playing Lou Gehrig? Totally ruined the movie for me, in spite of how well he did "The Speech.") and the gun stuff ...

Always thought Reeves to be kind of a lightweight, but his gunplay in the John Wick movie was well-done, as were Tom Cruise's shooting sequences in "Collateral."

That video of Keanu just made him one of my favorite actors almost instantaneously. I've always complained about the Hollywood version of gun handling, and how poorly it is done. In that short clip Keanu just proved that he has been training and practicing a lot. You don't run a stage like that without some real skill and practice to get there. I'd be willing to bet that he could best 98% of the folks on this site in a 3-gun stage, and that says a lot.

Now that I think of it, someone who shoots that well is usually an enthusiast. He very well could be reading this thread, and could very well be posting under an assumed name on this site. Heck, I could be him (hint: I'm not). But, Keanu, if you are a member of THR, nice shooting there!

One woman in the rifle class I recently took was an actress who specifically took the class so she could put on her résumé that she knows how to handle a rifle. She even came dressed "for the part" in cowboy boots. :)

He's made enough money shooting guns in films to best keep his mouth shut if he wants to bash guns.

Funny thing about Keanu is, he donates a large sum of his "pay" to the production crew who do 99% of the hard work. He's well known for taking the subway to get where he needs to go and is an all around decent dude. His neutral stance on gun ownership is acceptable, at least to me. He's not a hypocrite like Liam Neeson or Mark Wahlburg.

In any case, the video is apparently a closed ranged, training for John Wick 2. I may actually have to watch the first one.
