A few days ago at work, it was snowing badly and the kids were let out at school, so most of the co-workers' kiddies were at work to pass the time. The place normally turns into a day care/zoo, not to mention it's deadline and giving us in the production staff headaches.
One of the parents plopped all the kids down on front of the TV by the conference table, which happens to be right by my desk. She put in the video "Kids Fighting Chance", an instructional video that teaches little kids how to defend themselves aginst kidnappers, etc.
So I had some fun entertainment when I peeked around my computer monitor.
What I saw was quite interesting - the instructors combined basic moves that they thought a child could do against an attacker, involving "what if" scenarios like, "What if he grabs you from behind" or "What if he's got his hands strangling your throat." All the moves were designed to help the kid release himself from an attacker's grasp and get away.
There was alot of eye poking, biting and groin kicking. I think some of the moves are best made by an older child, but they had some that were meant for the micro-kiddies as well.
The kids were actually very intently studying it and imitating the moves. It was so cute to hear the little 5 year old in her squeaky voice say, "If some man tried that on me, I'd kick him twice and poke his eyes out."
Anyhow, I found the website, and there's a downloadable video clip.
