spent some time at the range today sighting in my flintlock, running my ar, and shooting my .357. also shot my .22 quite a bit. here's the best two groups of the day. i know they can be better. i've had a nasty head cold lately, and totally forgot my bi-pod at home, so i used a my range bag as a front rest. also about halfway through shooting for the day realized, that i never got my rear bag out to use, so i figured "why start now?" i'm used to shooting off the bi-pod and the range bag was doing me no favors by being too high on top of the bench.

note to self, buy another harris for the .22.

a ways back i read someone mention a place online that would sell sample packs of eley match ammo, so you could test it and then order up from the same lot. anyone know where this is? thanks

I spent about 6hrs. at the range today shooting a .257 Robts. Win. mod 70 and a 7x57 Win. mod. 54. I was surrounded by 6 other guys all shooting black rifles. Does that make me some kind of dianasaur? I don't own a black rifle.

My wife and I hit the range too. Great day. Took our .45, 9mm, both our 38's, AR and 22LR. and my .338 Lapua (had some issues with that one). We had a blast. damn wife shoots a pistol better than I do. still love her. I had to test some .223 hand loads through the chrono. All went well. Great day. ended it at our local pub with a couple cold ones and a pizza.

Saturday i shot a Steel Challenge with my 22 buckmark camper. Sunday, after church, i shot a USPSA IPSC match. After the IPSC match I shot my S&W 15-22 with its new Weaver 1-3x and my 3 gun AR. It was a good weekend for shooting. The matches went well, except my buckmark stove piped a few times, and the new 15-22 scope combo is a fun set up.

I own 13 long guns and not one "Black Rifle" in the bunch.(I'm a dinosaur too!) I live in a military town, so them Black Rifles adorn the benches until deer sight in time.
One of our local ranges gives free sight in weekends for the last two weeks before the deer opener, last year I saw one camo AR10 and one camo M1A scout squad, the rest were bolts and levers.

Spent most of Saturday at the range. I was checking myself and my scope and my load in my Savage. I'll probably get out with it at least once more before my hunt in October. Maybe twice.

Other than that, shot my muzzleloader a few times, and my .22 Savage I got as an understudy to the big game rifle got a good workout, too.

While i was shooting an AR sunday, a fella down the range was shooting an AR chambered in 6.8spc. He said, he uses it for deer. I didn't see the magnification, but it had a Nikon with a 40mm objective lense. That set up seemed like a good deer rifle.

Guy in my office got a deer and a javelina with his 6.8spc AR last year, and then his wife got her deer with it, too. Has a compact 1-4x scope on it.

Seems to work - short, light, accurate, powerful enough.

I spent Monday at the range testing out one of the new Champion 25 round mags for the Marlin 70/795. It worked well enough, I put around 400 rounds through it and had about a dozen failures. About half of them appeared to be ammo related, and the rest of them seemed to be the mag. I'm going to be testing it out more within the next few weeks and may post a review here.

I taught a few new shooters how to hit with my 22/45, and other assorted hanguns, including a little trigger time with the M11/22 subgun. Lots of fun!
