I remember a few years ago there was some idiot reenactor who loaded his revolver with lead for a battle thinking that for some reason the lead bullets didnt kill people anymore and killed an 80 year old veteran

I could be the next, when my Tower of Power arrives. J/K
Just wait till I make up my mind which c&b revolver I'm getting next.

I may be the next one, if I can't decide between a Pocket Police, a 3rd Dragoon, a 49 pocket colt, and another 58 Remington.
I may have to buy them all, and my wife may just use one of them on me.

I'm in the same boat here. I just got another Remmy but Cabelas is tempting with their super cheap steel framed Piettas. And of course an 1860 Army, or an 1863 Remington pocket to sleeve and convert to .22 percussion/Long Rifle. Dangit, too many choices!

As for the whole cap issue, it's all a matter of finding caps your revolver likes. My Pietta Remington NMA likes Remington #10's but my Armsport Remington doesn't. As with any firearms you intend to keep around for self defense, you have to practice with it so you can become proficient with said weapon. If you practice with a cap and ball revolver you'll see they can be reliable.

I worked on an appeal stemming from a conviction for a killing with a .44 BP revolver about 12 years ago: it was most effective. There was an interesting ballistics twist, but I can't discuss it.

Went and viewed the evidence from the case: man, you do not want to see what a BP revolver looks like after it's sat uncleaned for five years after firing.
