I am interested in either buying or having a rifle built in 308 Warbird. I would like any info or incite that anyone has on the caliber and whether to build or buy.

I'm guessing that your 300 RUM just doesn't have enough power for those WV whitetails?
The Lazzeroni cartridges are a proprietary design in several calibers and most are very high performance, but cases are only available through them.

I'm sure at maximum velocities, barrel life is very short, even on a $6000 Lazzeroni Rifle.

I shoot a 300 win mag and its way more than I really need. I just love hitting them like a freight train. I cannot imagine, however, using a 300 RUM or a 308 Warbird. Don't get me wrong, that's a neat cartridge because of how flat it is but that's just got to be punishing to shoot. On recoil, noise, and the wallet. I know that brass is expensive. You'd probly need a 30 inch barrel to burn all the powder that case holds. Keep looking into it if its something you're interested in though. Hope I wasnt too negative.

I met Lazzeroni one time at shot show. I looked over his products and asked him a little about them. I didn't look like a millionaire so he didn't act at all like he was excited about his products. I left with a sour taste in my mouth. But those pretty guns sure did draw me in like a fly to manure.
