I was telling my mom about the gun I bought for my partner's father for father's day and she said "Boy, Jim (my step-father) would sure love something like that."

I was not even aware he likes handguns. I have never really lived with them since I left home at 17 and never went back other than to visit and that was like 23 years ago nd they have been married about 23 yrs. I knew he had a rifle cabinet and a few rifles but that was all. Turns out she says he has 3 or 4 pistols and carries a 9mm with him all the time. You think you know someone...

So even though I always give the two of them a cruise for their "all-inclusive-yearly-gift" (meaning the cruise is mother's/father's day, x-mas, b-days, valentines day,etc all rolled into one gift) I could not resist buying him this. I even went to the engraver I use and had his handles done also. His initials are JDR.

Isn't it great when you find out something special about someone that you didn't know before? You got him a really nice gift, and the engraving look great too.

That's really cool! I can only hope that my sons are successful enough that they can do that for me sometime!! I bet he'll be really tickled by that.

Have a good one,
Dave

Pengiun, that's a nice gun. If I can ever afford it I'm going to buy my dad a classic Colt .45 1911 pistol. His dad had one during WW2 my dad wanted it but his older brother got it & traded it.:banghead:

That would be a nice gift and have a good backstory too. I am sure the day will come when you get to purchase and present that gift. I think that I have actually gotten more fun out of buying guns as gifts for others than i do buying one for myself. Lets see if I still feel that way once I have actually parted with one.
