My wife has "approved" a CMP purchase of an M1 Carbine and I am excited. I have never done one of these "Let's See..." threads but I love the pictures here on THR. Maybe we'll all have some fun.

So...Let's See Some M1 Carbines! Thanks.

My Wife's carbine

This is the carbine that my wife got from her dad. He bought it after returning from Korea in 1953. Not a very good picture,I know. My f-i-l gave her several hundred rounds of Remington soft point ammo and several 15 and 30 rd mags. WHAT A GUY!

I had to reformat my computer so I don't have a picture of my carbine right now.

My carbine is one of the most ugly ones I've seen, but it's also my favorite long gun. It's a Rock-ola mixmaster, in a really dinged up Inland stock. Even though the stock is pretty ugly, it does have some character. For one, it is a high wood stock with the remant of the crossed cannon still visible on the buttstock. The most surprising feature it has (which I didn't notice it until after I bought the rifle, and the previous owner didn't mention it) are two "kill" grooves cut into the bottom of the buttstock.

This is my Inland 1943. It's beat up, about shot out, but lots of fun to shoot.

Damnit, I've always wanted one. I swear, some day when the cash comes in im buying myself one no matter what the cost is. I almost got a winchester m1 carbine in great shape-- trying to find the pic.

They just seem like they would be handy little rifles..

amd6547,

How does that stock work with the sights? I went to the gun shop specifically to purchase the Auto Ordnance paratroop Carbine with the same type of stock. You couldn't use the sights without dropping your cheek way below the top of the stock. I wanted that model bad but could bring myself to buy it and bought the standard version instead.

and my Universal that I never clean but so far keeps going bang, will I hit a bowling pin at 100yds?.....maybe

I have always liked folders, so I didn't have a problem using the M1A1 stock on my carbine. After a little familiarization handling, it started to feel pretty natural...now, the sights come up very quickly.
