A good friend about six months ago bought a 4 inch Security Six, blued, in .357.

Well, at the pawnshop were he got it I suggested he dicker it down to $300 flat, tax included, cause whomever had it before substituted the hammer spring and added rubber grips (I HATE rubber grips on sixguns.. if you want rubber get a Glock.) I personally inspected the gun before he got it. Tight, good blue, early high back. Had a bit of rust on the side of the hammer&trigger but easily buffered off.

Well he got tired of it and texted me today... I had sold him a good set of wood grips for it for $15 and he said he would sell me the gun for $300.. I said back that $315 would be more appropriate and fair.. so last text he said ok to the $315 and he would give me 100 rounds of .38s he bought for the gun and the Galco holster I gave him for that gun.

Yes, a Ruger SS, excellent shape, for $315 with 100 rounds of ammo and holster (well my holster really...)

Tomorrow I go by bank, get the cash, and in the afternoon make the deal.

He said he fired he gun 5 shots only... he wants to go to the gun show this weekend coming. Far enough!

Of course I need another 'Six' like I need a hole in the head but well for that price, ok, one more hole in the head!

I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Hey look at it this way, you did your friend, and yourself, a decent enough favor by making this deal. I would love to have the opportunity to get some of my former Security Sixes back. Enjoy.

Another security six? You should be ashamed of yourself, buying a gun you don't really need while children in Korea go without. Which direction does your moral compass point? Do the right thing, give me your friend's number and don't give in to temptation.

NEVER pass up a deal on one of those! You did good. If you'd turned it down, you'd kick yourself forever.

I've only got one. Bought it new 30 or so years ago when I was new to handgunning. It quickly became my favorite and remains so to this day. The Python and the Smiths all take a backseat to that humble Ruger.

Only regret I have is passing on a NIB blued Sec. Six I stumbled on at a gunshow 16 years ago. The guy only wanted $230.

Yea another one...

The top gun is my Speed Six .357 I put a Ruger DAO factory hammer on, Secret Service stocks, and did an action job including stoning the surfaces that contact on the hammer, trigger, and bolt. Finished with Microlobe. Wolf hammer spring and it's zero-zero tight!

Middle gun is the new Security Six. Cleaned it up but no action job yet. Notice the Bill Rogers grips. Only pair I've found in years!

Bottom gun is my 2 3/4 stainless Security Six, also with action job and Secret Service stocks (notice I changed it to a round butt.) It is totally zero-zero tight.

I gotta lay off these Sixes.... Sure not helping my bank account.
