I can pick my Savage up in a few days and when I get to the range i'll do a range report.
.17 hmr does have its drawbacks: not reloadable and it is around $.20 - $.30 each shot. However, I figure in about a few years the prices may drop down to that of .22lr. Remember, this ammo is carefully loaded so you are getting match grade? out of $.24 each shot. I also don't reload yet and have a ton of brass saved up for when I do. I also wanted a tack driver that is sorta on the inexpensive end, otherwise I woulda built an f-class rifle for several $K, the savage ran me $350, oh and the range where I live only has walk up targets to 100 yrds, no point in f-class if I can only shoot to 400yrds and can't zero my scope to the proper distance.
