M1 SA Garand with NM sight upgrade pics

Just installed a front NM sight and a rear NM (.520) aperture on my SA SG. Looks good. Took all of 5 minutes of a light stoning with my diamond stone for the edges of the rear aperture assembly.

Don't get mad at me for asking this question, but why? I have a match tuned M-1 in 308 that has the NM sights too. The stock M-1's don't.

Looks good. I put one of these front aperture sights on my Garand:

Like you, my eyes aren't as good as they used to be. This sight is very easy to see. My groups tightened up a lot. Too bad the sights put the rifle into the "match rifle" category...

just to see if it will make it easier to get tight groups. I have old eyes that are used to looking through a 24X scope.

Well, now that you have a "hood", you can do something with it -

Since the NM sight already makes the rifle not eligible for JCG matches, there's no penalty for doing this non-destructive modification. All you get is a better sight picture.

Note that you can select lens powers to either improve the target or the front sight, but you can't do both..
