It THE Magpul PRS Stock really work the money over the standard A2 stock?

I mean it looks cool, but is it really worth the $$$$$$

1. It's heavy.
2. It's adjustable.

Whether or not you need or want it bad enough to plunk down the change depends on you, and what you want to use your rifle for.

They serve two different purposes. I have one and really like it on a target rifle. Don't think I would mind having another on a basic AR with a scope though.

I have a couple of the PRS stocks. One (black) is on an AR15 (24" heavy fluted barrel) and the other (tan) on an AR10 (POF P-308-20). The POF came with a VLTOR EMod stock which is an excellent stock but not on a DMR type system. Anyway, the PRS stock is excellent and definitely worth the money to me. FYI, the PRS for an AR15 won't work on an AR10 (if the cheekpiece is raised) due to the length of the charging handle. MAGPUL's solution for the AR10 version was to make the raised cheekpiece shorter in length i.e. moved it further away from the charging handle.

On a side note, I had my AR15 PRS for 18 months before someone told me that the bottom plastic cover is removable to allow the mounting of a monopod.

I am considering this on a 16.5 inch barreled LR-AP4.

I am not really looking for a bench gun, just something more comportable to shoot. the colapsable stock it came with plain sucks.

I was thinking the added wieght & ergonomics of the PRS stock would be nice. However I could add the weight to an A2 stock for a lot less money for plinking at the range & remove the weight if I were to carry the gun in the field.

The real question is does the PRS Stock do much more than just llok good. Is it more comfortable?

You want a VLTOR Emod stock. The PRS wont fit on the buffer tube you have on your gun now. A prs is not made for the type of gun that you have. A PRS is made for bipod like shooting. Your gun is made for heavy CQB type stuff. The EMOD is a big enhancement over the standard collapsible. Im not saying you cant use it for long range scope like shooting its just that it is not made for that.

I was looking at the PRS myself, and am leaning towards the Magpul ACS or UBR stock for my 16" AR-15. Just a matter of personal preference for what U'm look ing for.

I may use a PRS stock on my HK-93 clone.

Agreed, the UBR or ACS is better if you want a fancier stock for your carbine. The PRS is more for long(er) barreled guns shot off a rest or a bipod.

My buddy has one on his prairie dog rifle. The setup of the rifle doesn't make the adjustable cheekpiece a real feature, but the adjustable length of pull is useful.

HTH

I really like the PRS stocks but MrCleanOK and taliv have it right that they are heavy. They work well in a big bore or long barreled platform to counterbalance the weight but I don't know nose heavy the LR-AP4 is. For me it works great on a 20" Varmint barrel, a 16" 458 and a 24" Grendel.
