Ok heres the deal

Most of you know that Im getting back from Korea on Tuesday. Well we have decided to go on vacation for 30 days and I will be travelling thru a major portion of the U.S.

List of states are as follows. From starting point to finish
Arizona
Nevada
Utah
Wyoming
South Dakota
Iowa
Illinois
Indiana
Ohio
WVA
Kentucky
Tenn
Georgia
Florida
Mississippi
Alabama
LA
Texas
New Mexico

Now, I currently have a CCW permit from Arizona and Florida.

So I went on packing.org and mapped out where I can and cannot carry.

Only states I see that I wont be legal to carry in is Nevada, Iowa, Illinios, Ohio, WVA and New Mexico.

So I guess I will have to pull over and secure the weapon while im in them states.

After reading the article on the worst states to travel thru with a firearm Im a little liery.

To me its worth the risk in order to protect myself and my family.

Anyone else have any words of wisdom or divine guidence on this?

don't conduct yourself in a manner that draws the attention of the local constabulary

Thats a given being a CCW carrier.

Gonna be me, the wife and my daughter.

Will drive the speedlimit and keep the lawdogs off of my backside.

Just concerned about interstate travel and such.

I too am going on a road trip this summer, and will also be passing through NV and NM. After researching their carry laws, I will be open carrying in those states.

I have the AR res and non-res FL. When I took my road trip last fall I inquired with the individual states web sites, and/or called. Not everything is current on www.packing.org or individual sites. I noticed there is a 'contact person' on packing.org...may save phone calls.

I also have a lockable container ( as some states require) I carry, handy for other stuff too.

I noticed your avoiding AR, smart man, unless one wants to do the "orange bbl road rally".

Mapquest, as you know, and others have info in road construction. Just tossed this in because, though you will be driving responsibly...contruction site citations and "click it or ticket' is a big deal right now.

Be safe.

LennyJoe, sorry dude....but your Involuntary Foreign Service Tour Extension (IFSTE) just came through and you're here for another 180. :what:

Come on up to CRC and we'll eat some "fishy".

Sorry JimP but im on a plane back to the motherland in 16 hours.

Cant wait to get back to the states. My time here is done.

Hurry back.

Adios Mijo

Don't ask-don't tell.

That would be incredibly stupid, especially in Illinois. The penalty there is extreme for having a loaded firearm on your person/in your vehicle. Illinois, I believe also has a "law" where a loaded magazine, is considered a weapon.

Use caution in that communist state. Probably no way you can make your way from Indiana to Michigan, then cut across. If either of your permits are Resident permits(MI only recognizes Resident permits), you'd be good to go there...

I'm right behind you, Lennyjoe! I PCS in mid July, and will be doing much the same thing, but with a Guncite class thrown in for good measure (August 4-8).

I am making an actual stop in Illinois, so will lock my stuff up. I only have a Washington ST CCW anyway.

Welcome back to the land of the big PX. I have been to Pusan before, and didn't like it very much.

Just remember how many felony arrests the coppers bag by somebody either admitting they have a gun in the car or by providing permission to search. Don't do either.
