Why doesn't the gun control crowd focus their energy on a REAL PROBLEM? These freaks are killing children yet they are trying to disarm America??

How many are in YOUR zip code? Find out here: http://www.criminalcheck.com/

This site lists sex offender databases in: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming

What the heck?

Zip Code search is NOT available for the following States: Iowa, Nebraska, New Jersey, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

That's just crap. I'm in Nebraska/Iowa.

no oregon...

Oregon appears to be one of two states that doesn't have any information in that database at all. Too bad.

Great, now we can go harass the guys who were 19 and consensually slept with a girl who was 17 and then went to the cops and screamed rape when she got mad with them. :D :D :D

It doesn't

I didn't have to put my name in, I just put in a zip code and got the info for Florida and Mississippi. Found one of the bastards on my own street!

Blackburn,
my heart bleeds for all the 19yr olds who exercised poor judgement. Not alot of them gonna get harrassed anyway. In Florida, the offenders are notated with 'sexual offender' (may or may not be a child, but will say "not a child") , 'predator', 'with a child under 13, 18, 21'. Pretty good indicators of who is a "child molester" vs the 19 yr old who let his little head make all his decisions.

But these sites are really helpful and a reminder to all how fast a perfectly innocent child can be taken from thier world. And as far as sexual predators having 'done their time' thats bull????. Never has one of them been caught on his first go around. It cant be rehabbed, corrected, changed. It is a hardwired sexual preference/gratification brain function. What happens when the news reports start happening about a child thats been snatched, brutalized and murdered? 2 to 3 more will get snatched in the following weeks. Why? Because the ones who have been laying low hear about the crime, start thinking about their last 'object' whom they destroyed and how much sexual gratification that object provided them, and the tension builds, and now another child is either dead or phsycologically destroyed. And for the survivors, they never, ever get their innocents or childhood back. There is no way to repay that. Ever see a victim that hears about their molester being released for 'good behavior' or on some other early release program? I have. The terrror starts all over. I dont care how much of a sentence these creatures have served, it aint enough. Untill their heart rate reaches zero beats per minute, they will continue to haunt their previos victims, and be a threat to any child in the vicinity. I'm happy to have resources that allow me to know wherer these threats live.
BTW, I live in Riverview, and work in Ruskin, Fl. I was at the Sheriff's command post for 3 days helping with the phone lines for them as they searched for Sarah Lunde. I saw what this does to communities, families, individuals. Till you are there, you cant understand. I also have children. One 8 and one 3. Till you have kids and hear about what these abominations do to little children (my father works in a jail and sees the reports), you wont understand. My right as a parent to know what lives in my community overrides a predator's right to privacy.

NJ's list can be found at

http://www.njsp.org/

Click on button in upper right hand corner and follow directions.
Offenders can be found by name, alias, town, county, zip, street, vehicle license plate, modus operandi, physical description, offense, etc.

Found 2 in my town. I knew about 1 not the other. The one I KNEW ABOUT WAS IN HIS LATE 30S WHEN HE GOT CAUGHT. I doubt that the majority are 19 year olds with poor judgement. The site gives age, dob and date of conviction you can do the math and draw your own conclusions.

Hey, I just figured I'd pre-empt the usual wisebutt with the 19 year old comment. If someone abused children of mine or of my friend, well, there's a reason I like owning a couple acres in the country.

Thanks for the link, very informative.

Unfortunately, the list for my town is 1¼ pages long. 2 of them within 2 blocks.

Blackburn,
My sincerest apologies, bro. After these last coupla weeks here in Florida, and especially this past weekend working the SO's station, I'm a little touchier than usual. I didnt catch the pre emptive sarcasm of your post and I made you a target for my retaliation and soapbox. Sorry.
Again, Sir, my bad. I'm more pissed at the world right now for the lack of courage we have in dealing with the real predators. Please accept my apologies.

There's one 5 houses down on the other side of the street.

He (51 year old white male) sexually assaulted a 15 yr old boy a few years ago.

Does anyone know how the "risk level" number is calculated? He's a '2'.

JohnKSa ~

The risk level goes from '1' (unlikely to reoffend) to '3' (extreme risk of reoffending).

In Washington, the law mandates that risk levels 2 & 3 receive public notification. Risk level 3 gets a note in the local paper whenever they move into a neighborhood, while the lists of offenders at risk level 2 & 3 are available from the sheriff's office and on their web site.

Umm, sorry, but isn't this just a bit OT.

Anyway,
Does anyone know how the "risk level" number is calculated? He's a '2'.
This refers to the presumed risk of and danger posed by recitivism. Level 1's are the "safest" and least likely to re-commit. Often they are not listed on internet sex-offender registries. They still have to register but unless something happens to upgrade them, you won't know who they are by going to these websites. Level 1 offenders would be the 19 yo who slept with a 17.9 yo with a vindictive parent.

Level 2 and 3 offenders are, of course, more likely to re-commit, and the crimes they committed are usually more severe. If you have a Level 3 guy living next door, and you or anyone that is frequently in your house fits the discription of his/her victims you would be adivised to move to another home.

One thing about these registries is that you cannot use the information to harass or otherwise intimidate the individual. In many (all??) states doing so may well land you in jail. A "preemptive strike" absolutly will land you jail, no matter how many times you've caught him/her leering at you/your child/your spouse.

Know who they are. Be able to recognize them. Be prepared to defend you and yours from them. But beyond that, there's not much you can legally do.

Hey Blackburn do you rent or lease 6' x 3' plots by chance? You know just in case I would ever happen to need a small plot of land.
