Malfunction: Round loads 3/4 into battery

I keep having a frequent problem, in the middle of a magazine the round is being loaded successfully from the magazine, it slides under the extractor, but gets caught by the barrel 3/4 into battery. When looking down at the ejection port you can see the round behind the extractor...its just the round is stuck inside the barrel with the head of the bullet stopped inside the barrel.

A light tap with your palm onto the back of the slide is usually enough force to place the round into battery. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

this is on your nice new Kimber? Don't they say to shoot it to 500 rounds first before reporting of any malfunctions?

no this is on my eclipse with 3,500 rds

yes.. they look good though
