Arrived today from Smokey Mountain Knife Works for $24.99. Marbles of Gladstone Michigan has authorized a re-issue of their early 1900's Safety Folder. The knife is made in China under Marbles license. Overall quality is exceptional. The fit and finish on my knife were excellent. Locks up tight and has a good snap. This knife is bargain and brings back an old time classic. It came with a descent edge - but a few strokes on my Arkansas stone had it shaving.

I have looked at originals for years and just could not see putting 500-700 dollars in a knife I planned on taking to the woods. I bought the white bone scrimshawed model - but will definitely be adding the brown bone stag model in the future.:)

Can't get pics to upload tonight

Stainless is what the write up said - just discovered something else out about it. The blade cover folds into the grip when in use. It becomes a lock that keeps it from closing.

I am a hard person to impress on some things - while I realize this is not a $200+ custom. It has all the bells and whistles and is finished extremely well.

Still can't get pics to load. Google SMKW and search Marbles Safety Folder

Yep that's it - wish I could afford one of the originals or get an American made close to the cost of the new ones. Still, the new ones are a bargain for the price and fills a unique place in my collection. It a keeper and a user... HSO -Thanks for adding pics

Let us know how your China-made safety folder holds out.

The same factory that makes Rough Rider folders makes Marbles folding knives so that is a good sign of quality, but let us know how things really turn out.
