My very first gun when I was a kid was that Marlin Model 99. I loved that thing! I stared the ink off the pages in the Shooter's Bible until such time as I earned enough $$...I think it was $44.00 with a 4X scope!
Then one day for no apparent reason the thing broke in two just as yours did.
It got shelved for 40 years and then one day I decided to tackle it. I used epoxy and a couple of small dowels. Then I refinished it with stain and tung oil to hide the break. My son continues to use it today!
