Mass shootings in Europe

The legacy media also skips over large-scale shootings in South America as well.

That the legacy media has biases is pretty much a given anymore. The reasons and/or explanations are beyond the scope of THR.

"We" have a problem in that we are practical, and by the nature of firearms, "precise." We have to be that way--you cannot get a 38super into a 38spl, and 7.7japanese is not 30-06, and so on. We have to be precise in our language, our terms, our definitions (enough so we get into flame wars over "clip" v. "magazine"). The rest of the world does not. "We" probably need to accept that those out of "our community" functionally speak in gibberish at best, and that this only gets worse the more specific the topic is on which they are nattering.

Aren't they pushing for a confiscation in Serbia after their recent shooting? With Russian still rattling the sabers, I have a feeling it's going to be a hard push and those that are pro-gun will use that as an argument point.

When I started noticing this, I didn't think to keep track. Going back a way there was one in Russia. In the last month or so I can recall two in one day in the same city, don't know if they were related, one in Portugal, Serbia, . There were others.

Mass shootings are not so much a problem that is caused by firearms but by a dysfunctional society. In Europe Poland has one of the most liberal firearms laws but not only one of the lowest crime rates, Poland's last school shooting also was in 1925. Of the Western countries it is one of the last homogeneous societies with very little uncontrolled immigration. Maybe sharing the same values isn't so bad after all.

we don’t have a gun problem in America, it’s a cultural problem! Art of War says, destroy a kingdom from within.

Any one noticed the number of mass shootings in Europe in the last month or so?
Nothing about this in the mainstream propaganda as it doesn't fit the narrative.
After all, we need gun laws like Europe has to prevent mass shootings..

Yeah, nothing in the MSM. Can't find a thing on it anywhere. o_O

If only we had a way to check the MSM to see if they covered these events.

Maybe if you looked in your local media, like Iowa public radio...

Serbia has had two mass shootings recently. As I understand it Serbia has quite strikt gun laws but Serbia like alot of the Balkans is awash with firearms. The Balkans are the main supplier of illegal weapons to the rest of Europe.

We do not get the truth from our media any more. I wonder if we ever did.

Talk about an industry that destroyed its own credibility. Heck, I trust the tobacco industry more. If they were not complicit with the Dems and .gov, they would already need to post warnings before content, “Warning: May be completely fabricated to mislead….”

Well, yes and no... It's not the Balkans region the problem per se, but the former Yugoslavian countries (like Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina...) are "to blame" here because of the wars that took place there not so long ago. Countries like Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, or even Turkey (part of it lies in the Balkans) have little to do with the illegal firearms traffic in the EU. Not to mention, that a big part of it comes from some of the former USSR states. One more thing, that might be interesting to some - the latest school shooting in Serbia was done with legally owned handguns. The boy (13) stole the pistols from his father, which had a license for them.

You won't like this but it's clear that there are contagion effects of school shootings egging on the next rampage. That is spreading overseas. There has been press coverage of the Brazilian problems. Not everything makes the regular newscasts. There's quite a few knife rampages in China, that get coverage in the press for that area and probably have their own contagion effects.

Saying that - oh, wow - there are rampages in Europe and they have tough gun laws, so we shouldn't have gun laws - that isn't going to influence any debate. Sorry to point that up. We always make these kind of arguments that have no power.

They are mentioned in reputable mainstream news but it’s hard to keep up with our own serious mass shooting issues which rightly get significant coverage.

Pretending that reputable media is some extreme black hole of disinformation while seeking out soothing media to confirm our worldview is a choice.

I haven’t trusted the media since Walter Cronkite said we were losing in Viet Nam. At that time we just kicked ass during the Tet Offensive. It became a self fulfilling prophesy because the general population believed Uncle Walter and turned anti-war.

That's off topic and a real simplification of the situation which was more complicated that body count.

I saw a documentary from a retired U.S. officer and from a commie Vietnam officer being interviewed separately. The commie said we beat them bloody, and pulled out of Nam at the wrong time. They were done, but we wouldn't go past the dmz, so they just waited.
