MDA tells Kroger to "Ban Open Carry"!

All they did was to essentially ask politely not to be the focus of our social events.

This is the directly quoted line from the letter issued by the CEO of Starbucks:

For these reasons, today we are respectfully requesting that customers no longer bring firearms into our stores or outdoor seating areas—even in states where “open carry” is permitted—unless they are authorized law enforcement personnel.

It is not an outright ban (not that they have the authority to do so anyway, with any weight of law), and not a policy completely prohibiting the carry of guns.
It is however, a request not to open carry any guns at S-bucks. Much more than simply "please don't hold protests here." I have carried concealed numerous times at Starbucks since that letter was issued.

You are better off just writing a note to Krogers thanking them for not being manipulated by these few big mouths and sticking to the high ground. They are following the law, which is what a business should do. We are the silent majority, "remember that", perhaps it's time to bring it back. We don't jump up and down and have hissy fits, we just remember you and what you stood for when it's time to spend our money.

I have carried concealed numerous times at Starbucks since that letter was issued.
I've carried openly in sbux several times since that letter and nobody cares. In fact, the only group that makes more of a stink about OC than MMD are the so-called 'supporters' in our midst. :barf:

As I said: We can still OC at Starbucks, and that's about that.... Bottom line is that they tossed a sop at the other side that has no weight of anyting, and then forgot about it. <yawn>...

I have also open carried to Kroger without issue. And will continue to do so, from time to time.

Don't give the folks at Krogers the impression that the Bloomberg MDA folks are the only ones willing to express their opinion.

I sent this through their customer service contact site.

I noticed that Michael Bloomberg's "Moms Demand Action" has started to pressure Kroger to make special policies at variance with local law, specifically demanding Kroger prohibit customers from legally carrying firearms within the limits of the law. I respectfully request Kroger continue to comply with the local laws and not impose further restrictions upon customers who are complying with the law. Establishing a policy at odds with local law makes customers subject to a "crazy quilt" impact when trying to comply with local carry laws, not knowing if they can trust that entering Krogers to do business will subject them to some unfounded penalty. Thank you.

I thought about sending a message to Kroger but if they really just want to be left out of it I'd respect that.

I simply brought up the Kroger comment page and thanked them for not caving in to pressure by a political group.

No group open carry trips to their deli, no attempts to change anything. Just a polite "Thank You" from a long term customer to the same outlet that everyone uses to complain about problems. i'm sure that the folks who monitor that page have the ability to notify the head office if there is a surge in positive comments.

My local Kroger is one of the few places I go where I actually need a firearm and have had to dissuade an attacker with one.

Kroeger was the store in IN where the asst manager shot and killed an armed robber. Kroeger fired him because they have a policy against employees having firearms in the store. To top it off they settled with the criminals family for wrongful death due to the fact their asst manager broke store policy by having a gun.

Lots of very reasonable replies and arguments were given in this thread :)

Unfortunately, the antis have an agenda and they don't care about reasonableness

The agenda isn't driven by soccer Moms, its driven by those who have been destroying America & robbing us blind, and want the American people disarmed.
(For obvious reasons.)

Fortunately, the manipulators and the soccer Moms don't determine if Americans will keep our 2nd Amendment (and other Constitutional rights) or not. WE decide. Those Creator (not document) given rights cannot be regulated or legislated out of existence.

The American founders knew this.

Do we ?

To add to my statement that I have open carried in Kroger multiple times...I have also witnessed customers carrying openly when I was a Kroger employee. Nothing was done and nobody (that I knew or interacted with, who mattered), cared.

Kroeger fired him because they have a policy against employees having firearms in the store.

Bruno,

Dunno where you're getting your info, but that's all incorrect. Kroger was considering it and then didn't. That may have partly been thanks to a campaign by locals to help protect his job, but Mr. Elliot eventually resigned as manager to move on from the incident.

Toni Atkinson filed an absurd lawsuit that had no potential for winning. Where's the record saying Kroger settled in that case? You may be thinking of the security guard that filed a lawsuit over the incident against Kroger (although it wasn't considered as having much merit either).

From the Bearing Arms article in the link below:

[ Pic of a post where shoppers fill a cart and then leave it w/ a note that they will not shop where guns are permitted. ]

What is wrong with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America & Everytown for Gun Safety supporters that they advocate "SWATting" law-abiding gun owners?

This gun control supporter is not alone in her desire to commit crimes in the name of “gun sense.” Some of these bitter people are willing to not only copy Averill (who is advocating a crime that could result in a year in prison), but plot to call 911 and claim that there is a robbery in progress if they see someone lawfully carrying a firearm. This is called SWATting. This deplorable practice places lives as risk and is a felony in many jurisdictions.

Starbucks owner is a big time lib who gives heavily to the Democrats why would any gun owner give them his money their coffee tastes like something you put on plants anyway you can buy coffee lots of other places

Moms Demand Action should change their name to Bloomberg Demands Compliance.

I know this is America and all but why would any business give into the demands of a small special interest group? I mean unless of course that group has your best interests at heart.

Can these miniscule groups effect the bottom line that much?
