So, 1st off,

THANKS !

She apparently listened to all of your sound advice, and got me the Sizemaster in .410.

It arrived on my birthday, and I've been gathering components since.

Finally, I have "everything".

However, something is... Amiss.

The machine has been setup now for 2.5" shells, and all of the stations Except for the depriming station seem to work flawlessly.

The depriming arm appears to be about .75" to 1" shorter than it needs to be !

I've adjusted it six ways from sunday, and there is no amount of prayer or elbow grease thats gonna make that inch pop out of thin mechanical air unless something is seriously wrong- and the instructions and parts descriptions I can find are not helping me at all.

So, can someone either tell me how I've got this horribly wrong, or;

Can anyone else who has a Mec Sizemaster in .410 please measure the length of the pin you have ? Or, alternately, does anyone know how long it should be ?

^^^ What 243winxb said.

I had a Sizemaster years ago, and if I remember correctly, it has a similar design. Loosen the ring nut, then adjust it either up or down to get the right length. The capping pin should just thread up inside of the resizing colet, I don't think there is any adjusting necessary there, just make sure it's secure / tight.

This is the press at its most downward portion of stroke.

The business end of the decapping pin is resting on an unremoved primer in the 410 case shown in the resizing collet.

No amount of tightening is going to/has make/made that gap disappear !

First off I have never owned one of those. But I own several 600 JR's. I would think---and only a guess--- that it is the wrong assembly. A phone call asking the length or an email with that picture to MEC should get things headed to usable in short order. I bet somebody just grabbed a part out of a bin and installed it without checking for fit. Looks to be the decapper for a 600 JR. OC in general is NOT what it was just a few years ago sadly and we are slowly running this nation into the ditch.:banghead:

2 phone calls to mec fixed this right up..

Equal measure mis-assembly of this special order piece and mis-application of pieces by the end user.

The techs at mech are 1st rate- the literature with this thing was less than spectacular !
