midway has some decent ammo prices

Indeed, but while I was buying ammo I saw they had the 24" 6.5 Grendel upper on sale.

So it wound up not being a cheap visit.

Clicking that link is dangerous. I don't remember the last time I spent less than $200 at Midway when I'm only buying a $7 magazine follower for my 870.

OP, any specific examples or personal favorites?

Can they beat $299.50 shipped for 1k rounds of IMI 5.56x45 M193, for example? I saw that one earlier today at target sports usa

I didn't see anything that could, but not everyone wants 1K. The battle packs were not priced too bad.

IMI for 299.50 shipped is a good deal on some very good ammo.

Which battle packs? Best I see is $0.325 per round for .223 (and a .223 known to be loaded weaker than 5.56, though it is reliable). The 5.56 is even $0.433 per round + shipping, which unfortunately is only a little bit high compared to buying case quantities elsewhere since it's SS109

I saw that too and I am in consideration mode. If I could sell my 5.56 upper I would probably be all over it.

9x19mm .....

I forwarded a MidwayUSA offer to a friend/ex-co worker who has a few 9x19mm pistols.
The retailer has 50rd boxes of 9mm 124gr FMJ for $11.25 USD. :D
I might buy a few boxes myself next week since I plan to get a new Shield no thumb safety 9x19mm soon.
It seems like 1994, not 2014. Lol....

Norma 180 gr. .308
Black Hills 115 gr. +P 9mm
Winchester Military Grade 9 pellet 00

were my preferences

They had some very good prices on quality ammo. For example in .223 I wouldn't care about the price of 1000 rounds of IMI, but I'm very interested in the price of Black Hills 75 gr. HPBT ammo.

You can often, perhaps usually, find the cheapest priced ammo elsewhere.

I agree that you can usually find ammo at a better price elsewhere.

But I am not familiar with a Black Hills 75gr .223. Can you link it?

I am familiar with, and a fan of, the Black Hills 77gr SMK 5.56x45, but Midway's price on this round has recently gone up even more

That 90 grain Nosler .243 ammo at $35 is a heck of a deal.

I have a feeling, and I may be wrong, but I have a feeling that guys that like to shoot rifle ammo that may not be in the top 10 or so in total sales are going to have a real problem in the future finding ammo. I understand it has always been a little bit difficult, but that stuff is evaporating fast and the manufacturers do not seem to have too much interest in replenishing.

Midway's okay for some stuff, but I only buy in bulk, and the vast majority of my ammo is purchased through SGammo.com, first rate attention to details and good pricing even by today's standards. Currently they are selling Federal 9mm 115 gr JHP +P+ 9BPLE at $16.95 a box of fifty, 124 gr American Eagle FMJ at $239.00 per thousand and Speer Gold Dot 115 gr +P+ at $24.00 a box of fifty. Ammunitiontogo.com doesn't get any of my business anymore as they are an outrageous price gouging outfit charging $40.00 per box for that same Gold Dot 115 +P+ load.

Midways price for that Black Hills 9mm 115 gr +P ammo is $16.00 a box of twenty! I don't buy ammo in twenty round boxes, period! SGammo is selling Federal 9BPLE 115 gr +P+ at just $16.95 per box of FIFTY!!! Its a no-brainer.

Heavy Match...I see it

Interesting. Not sure I'd heard of it before, no reviews.
How is it?

My RRA 18" ATH likes it, although I should say I usually shoot the reloaded version, trying to be thrifty as I can. I don't know what bullet it uses although it is a HPBT, they don't list the brand so we can safely assume it's not a SMK. It's very accurate out to 400 yards which is the longest I have shot my AR.

When I say very accurate I mean I can hit 9x12 steel plates, I haven't shot it for groups at that range. It's always sub-moa at 100 yards though.

Neat! They have Buffalo Bore 180 grain .357 magnum for $17 a box, that's a great price for that load. I'd buy some if I wasn't saving up for reloading equipment. :)

How about 9.50 for that box of 20 I did. I said it was a clearance. what mm is the 284?
off topic I know but I would like to know. is it 6. something? nevermind I figure it out 284 is 7.213mm

oh c sarno next time read the whole thread.
sometimes no brainers are not so obvious..................

I definitely buy whenever I can from them (it has to be competitively priced of course) as Larry Potterfield has been one of this Great Nation's absolute strongest Patriot's. His unwavering support of the NRA/Second Amendment is almost unrivaled and certainly indispensable. I had the honor of meeting him and his lovely wife in Houston during the Convention and he is as down-to-earth in person as he appears on TV.

Happy Holidays!

Whats to read, you're here barking how great a deal you got for a box of twenty cartridges, I pointed you in the direction of getting the exact same load, at the exact same price, for more then double the quantity! I would imagine that you're the kind of guy that will be screaming for communist price controls when you can no longer obtain ammo after the next school shooting takes place! The price you're raving about having gotten a deal on translates to $43.00 + per box of fifty! Thats hardly a deal, and certainly not worth enticing others into pursuing.

Yes. Great deal on very good, street proven ammunition. It may not be Gold Dot or HST, it's a generation behind that, but, well...it is very good street proven ammunition.

I picked up a few hundred from SGAmmo one of the last times they had that in stock.

Definitely recommended. I don't have it in any pistols right now, but I shot a box and it shot great...just hanging onto the rest.
